Industrial Engineer to join the Business Solutions team to support aggressive growth plans over the next three years. As an Industrial Engineer, you will be responsible for using a consultative problem-solving approach to identify opportunities, design, and implement improvements to processes, workflows, metrics, and operations in general.
Additional opportunities in the role will include supporting operations with continuous improvement and thought leadership as well as comprehensive end-to-end project support. The Wagner Business Solutions team is focused on implementing and improving standardized work, designing, and implementing new warehouse designs, coaching and leading continuous improvement and defect reduction activities.
The ideal candidate will have logistics or warehousing operations experience, knowledge of lean and/or continuous improvement concepts and waste reduction, as well as some experience in process analysis, although none of these are requirements. Experience working with measurement systems like MOST, MTM, MODAPTS, etc., automation and/or robotics will be useful but not required.
This position will office at our
Corporate Headquarters in North Kansas City, MO. Up to 45% travel outside the Kansas City Metro may be needed. The normal shift is Monday-Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with other hours as required by project. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned as required.
- Leading and coaching Continuous Improvement projects
- Assist in setting up and optimizing warehouse layouts, with CAD software as necessary
- Assist senior management and operating managers in problem solving initiatives
- Manage the Customer Profitability Process
- Manage the MHE replacement program
- Assist in process design, pricing, and setting labor standards
- Evaluate potential non-traditional solutions, including robotics, automation, and machine learning
- Strive to contribute to Wagner’s Thought Leadership by researching industry trends and topics
- Assist with rate and assumption reviews for business reviews
- Examine current processes and workflows and develop future state processes
- Analyze competing solutions and calculate ROIs
- Create, document, and implement standardized work
- Utilize data visualization software to analyze trends and recommend improvements
QUALIFICATIONS

- Citizenship Must be a United States citizen
- Criminal Background and Pre-Employment Drug Test – A clean criminal history and pre-employment drug test is mandatory
- Education (Required) - College – Degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain or Data Analysis or equivalent work experience
- Certifications (Required) – None
- Experience (the minimum level of direct experience in a similar position) – 3+ years professional experience working in a warehousing or manufacturing environment. Exposure to process and quality control, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or continuous improvement initiatives is preferred.
- Knowledge/Experience/Skills –
- Required Software: Microsoft Office Suite, CAD or equivalent
- Preferred Software: Tableau or other data visualization software, experience with a Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
- Must be a team player and excellent communicator who possess the ability to interact effectively with customers, vendors, and other employees of the corporation. Must be skilled in all job-related technology and engage in logical, process-based problem solving.

Travel – Up to 45% domestic travel
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Ability to stand, sit, squat, crawl, bend, twist, reach and/or kneel for up to 12-hour periods of time and repetitively
- Exposure to varying temperatures: heat, cold, wet, damp, drafty
- Work on concrete and unlevel surfaces
- May be required to climb ladders and stairs
- Work around hazardous materials and may be exposed to carcinogens, toxic, and explosive materials.
- Possible exposure to areas with high noise levels that may require hearing protection
- Use hands and fingers to grasp, turn, and manipulate objects of varying sizes and weights
