Job Description


The Human Resources Department has an exciting opportunity for a Human Resources Partner (Generalist I), reporting to the Director of Human Resources, at EDC headquarters in Waltham, Massachusetts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The person in this position is expected to communicate clearly and courteously; to develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, consultants, collaborators, co-workers, field sites, and funders; and to work respectfully with EDC colleagues. The job requires adherence to EDC policies & procedures.

The Human Resources Partner supports the development, delivery and coordination of human resource services and collaborates on the implementation of human resource programs and initiatives. The HR Partner plays a key role in EDC’s HR strategy and service delivery by partnering closely and collaboratively with all functional areas of the organization. We are looking for an HR Partner who is outstanding at relationship building, cross functional communications, a conceptual thinker with fantastic problem solving and conflict management skills.

The HR partner will provide outstanding client service and support equity, diversity, and inclusion by applying their broad knowledge of human resources to collaborate across the organization. The successful candidate will exhibit strong decision-making skills and have experience with employee relations and comfort navigating different situations.

HR Partner Responsibilities:

Under the guidance of the Human Resources Director:

Provides support to division staff in the areas of performance management, recruiting, professional development, employee relations, compliance, compensation, etc.

  • Assists with performance evaluations and decisions affecting continuation of employment; helps to ensure that performance issues are dealt with in a timely and appropriate fashion and that individual performance assessments are calibrated with departmental and organizational results
  • May handle employee relations counseling, investigations, and exit interviews, under the guidance of other HR Partners
  • Collaborates on all employment related compliance initiatives (EEO, AA)
  • Advises HR management team on matters impacting employee relations, productivity, development, regulatory compliance, and fairness in employment
  • Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the department
  • Collaborates to create and deliver HR initiatives in one or more areas; benefits, compensation, performance management, employee engagement, training/professional development, policy, etc to support EDC’s commitment to investing in our staff

The Human Resources Partner

  • Is knowledgeable about HR processes and requirements; maintains currency in compliance requirements
  • Engages in and supports advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion at EDC and actively participates in and collaborates with EDC's equity, diversity, and inclusion committees
  • Facilitates teamwork; interacts effectively with diverse staff with competing priorities and engages collaboratively in feedback
  • May travel domestically for meetings and/or trainings.

Qualifications


This position requires educational achievement; excellent writing skills; demonstrable initiative, creativity, and flexibility; ability to work independently and effectively in groups; and strong interpersonal & organizational skills. Specific requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of training & education
  • At least 5 years Human Resources experience. Experience with employee relations preferred.
  • Client service orientation and well-honed business partnering skills
  • Solid knowledge of human resources policies and procedures and their application in the day-to-day working environment
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and excellent communications skills, and to work well under pressure, take initiative, be flexible, be diplomatic, and handle highly confidential information appropriately
  • Comfortable working with HR systems and Applicant Tracking Systems (Kronos and Smart Recruiter preferred) and producing and interpreting reporting/data.

This position offers an anticipated salary range of approximately $57,000 to $75,000. Compensation ranges are established based on market analysis and internal equity.
