Position Summary:


UTHealth Houston is looking for a Human Resources Generalist to support our clincial operations which consists of clinics in and around the Houston area. You will collaborate with clinical Business Partners to provide HR support to UT Physicians including managing new employee orientation, engagement activities, exit surveys, and helping to create and analyze metrics and data around this operation. Your focus will be looking at the big picture and coming up with trends that call for policy adjustments, and making sure employees are satisfied in their career with UTHealth Houston and the Practice Plan. You will field employee questions as they come up, and act as a resource and advocate for them. You will assist with providing data that will facilitate business reviews, and contribute advice to leaders and managers. You should be a pro at employee engagement, and be comfortable with speaking to employees one on one or in a group setting.


This position will require an employee to work a hybrid schedule with a typical work week consisting of three days in the office. Travel to and from clinics may be required at times. Your office will be based in our Binz Plaza Medical Center which is on both the Metro bus and rail lines.

Position Key Accountabilities:

  • Coordinate and manage UTP NEO
  • Manages UTP employee engagement activities
  • Partners with human resources colleagues to assess and analyze root cause issues; recommends and ensures appropriate actions are taken to promote employee satisfaction and reduce controllable turnover.
  • Partners with Employee Relations in support of the exit interview process.
  • Advises on requests for new job descriptions, as necessary.
  • Provides feedback to questions from clinical Practice Managers and staff; provides appropriate referral/contact information to Human Resources colleagues as necessary.
  • Supports UT Physicians and human resources initiatives including but not limited to performance management, employee engagement, employee relations, turnover assessment and review and retention efforts.
  • Formats metrics and reports received from Human Resources Analysts; delivers this information to clinical leadership.
  • Assists in the development, revision, and implementation of human resources policies and procedures.
  • May work with direct supervisor to recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvement in the efficiency of the department and services performed.
  • Supports clinical acquisition and transition processes by analyzing and recommending position titles for incoming staff that align with UTHealth minimum requirements, based upon experience. Serves as facilitator of acquisition and transition employee meetings and point of contact for departments throughout the process.
  • Provides guidance and counsel to employees and managers regarding basic employee relations issues; observes confidentiality as appropriate for resolution.

Certification/Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Analytical abilities
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, Outlook, Visio, Word)

Minimum Education:

At least a Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Business with a focus in Human Resources.


Minimum Experience:

Three (3) years professional human resources experience; prefer 1 to 2 years of experience providing Human Resources support in the healthcare industry.


Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
