Who We Are

We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit agency that promotes justice by providing free and low-cost legal services to underserved immigrant children, families, and refugees. As an organization that combines expertise developed from the daily practice of immigration law with a deep commitment to advocacy, RAICES is unique among immigration organizations. We provide a holistic approach to immigrants. RAICES not only assists immigrants in navigating through complicated immigration laws, but we also assist immigrants with social needs through case management and providing assistance with housing. RAICES advocates that justice is an inherent human right that should be awarded to everyone regardless of age, religion, country of origin, sexual orientation, or ability to pay for legal counsel.

COVID-19 Response
Protecting the health and safety of employees and clients remains essential. We currently practice social distancing and encourage masks in all public areas. RAICES is using a phased-in approach to return staff to resume in-office operations. This position will require working remotely and in-office at the assigned work location. Applicants must be adaptable and open to working in both environments.

  • Our employees work in-office and remotely based on their role and business needs.
  • Our mission-centered employee will be required to work in the assigned location when we reinstate normal operations.

The HRBP is responsible for aligning the organization’s initiatives and functions with business objectives and needs of the entire employee life cycle. The HRBP partners closely with organizational leaders, managers, supervisors, employees, and internal HR colleagues to provide insights, guidance, training and based on in-depth functional knowledge and functional expertise in the areas of employee relations, conduct & performance matters, disciplinary issues, investigation best practices, organization design & structure, and organization culture, etc. This position will also identify and develop employee and leadership training focused on core organizational values and overall strategic priorities based on employee performance, coaching sessions, and skills gap analysis.


Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to and support the delivery of the HR strategy in line with business objectives;
  • Support the development and continuous improvement of HR systems and policies in line with best practice;
  • Drive and deliver HR initiatives to support business needs, such as, talent development,
  • employee engagement, management development, learning and development, and organizational change;
  • Work in partnership with the operational management teams to identify training opportunities and areas of improvement to support improved organizational and people performance, in line with business needs;
  • Guide and coach managers on employee relations and HR issues in line with organizational policies and best practice, including disciplinary, grievance, performance, and absence management;
  • Support other roles within HR team as required with other projects and operational issues, e.g., recruitment, payroll, training & development, etc.;
  • Evaluate organizational performance to ensure that training is meeting business needs and improving performance;
  • Develop curriculum and annual training plans for management, leadership and all organizational departments based on organizational goals;
  • Promote an environment of cultural competence through identification and implementation of culturally-inclusive practices and innovations; and
  • Update and maintain the employee handbook on relevant policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience acting in the capacity of HR Business Partner and/or Employee Relations Lead;
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, HR management or related field.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3 years in HR leadership capacity
  • Masters’ degree in Business, HR Management, or related field;
  • Current HRCI or SHRM certification; and
  • Experience working with the Paycom ATS and other ATS is strongly preferred.

  • Ability to build strong and collaborative relationships with core functions such as Legal, Finance, etc.;
  • Excellent written, verbal, communication and presentation skills;
  • Knowledge of training methodologies, adult learning styles, and evaluative methodologies in measuring impact on organization and ROI of training expenditures; and
  • Ability to work remotely and work in virtual teams.
