The Human Resources Specialist reports to the Human Resources Director and is responsible for the daily activities associated with all HR functions.

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Provide high quality, first line information and support to employees on a wide range of HR inquiries.
  • Records employee information such as personal data, compensation, benefits, tax data, attendance, performance reviews or evaluations, exit interviews, termination date and reason.
  • Supports and assists with critical activities to improve employee engagement; works to develop positive relationships with associates within established corporate guidelines, to promote communications and foster confidence in the Human Resources team.
  • Updates employee’s files to document personnel actions and to provide information for payroll and other uses.
  • Examines employee’s files to answer inquiries and provides information to authorized persons.
  • Ensuring compliance with federal, state and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Be a resource to the HR Team to help answer and assist employees or walk ins at the front desk.
  • Assists with new hire orientation as required.
  • Assist with recruiting efforts and functions as needed.

Education and Work Experience

  • Three to Five years of prior HR experience required or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and strong communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Adaptable/flexible and self-directed with the ability to manage time and other resources wisely.
  • Must have the ability to work effectively with other organizational team members.
  • Excellent computer skills – must be proficient with Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet savvy.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Physical Demands/Work Environment

  • Remaining in a stationary position, often sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Adjusting or moving objects up to 20 pounds in all directions.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Work is primarily sedentary in an office setting located off-site. Office hours are Monday through Friday during the day. May be required to work off shifts as needed, on weekends, or on holidays based on projects.
