General Description
Essential Functions
This is a lead position affording guidance to other positions performing the same tasks. This lead position also reviews workloads, assigns work and coaches employees with specialized instructions and practices for job accomplishments. Lead personnel may contribute to other employees' performance evaluations, assist with the hiring process by interviewing and making recommendations and providing input to supervisory staff.
Maintains the interior of facilities by troubleshooting, isolating the problem, repairing or replacing plumbing, electrical, appliances, heating and cooling equipment, fabricating and installing flooring and drywall, changing locks, and painting.
Maintains the exterior of facilities by painting, repairing fences and walkways, performing landscaping, and removing litter.
Estimates equipment needs by evaluating the condition of units, estimating equipment needs, ordering materials, maintaining service records, and processing paperwork.
Cleaning work areas, repairs equipment, assists with special carpentry projects as needed, delivers appliances, responds to emergency maintenance calls, and provides guidance to personnel.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Coordinates the daily work of Housing Technicians, temporary workers, and outside contractors repairing, modifying and maintaining public housing units.
- Manages, assigns, and prioritizes work orders to ensure completion in a timely manner.
- Ensures materials, equipment and supplies are maintained.
- Completes administrative paperwork and promotes customer and employee relations.
- Reconciles purchase receipts and invoices.
- Enters on-call schedules, callbacks, and ensures Kronos timekeeping is maintained for employees reporting to this position.
- Responsible for on-call emergency maintenance on a rotating basis, assigns responsibilities, and provides guidance to Housing Technicians.
- Requires the ability to be available to assist Housing Technicians on site and in the units.
- Manages, delegates, coordinates, and determines priorities of workload of Housing Technicians, scope of work, monitoring levels of resources, establishing timelines, assigning work, monitoring progress, recommending changes and suggestions, writing, reviewing, approving completed projects and reports, and ensures that Housing Technicians are implementing City of Tucson and HUD policy and procedures.
- Responsible for assisting with evaluation of Housing Technician's performance and contributes to hiring processes by interviewing, suggesting recommendations, and providing input to director supervisor and management.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Education Level & Type: High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Minimum Experience Qualifications: At least 4 years maintaining and repairing housing units
Valid and Unrestricted Class D - Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications
- 3 to 4 years of previous supervisory experience, is preferred.
“Supervisory experience” is defined as having supervised at least 1 full-time FTE
