Job Description

Position: House Attendant/House Person

Reports to: Executive Housekeeper

Status: Non-Exempt

Job Summary:

House Attendant will be responsible for assisting the housekeepers as well as banquet personnel with their everyday operational materials, amenities, and mini bar items to ensure exceptional service to all guests that is consistent and continually in accordance to the standards of Hotel Equities.

Essential Functions

  • Strip the guest rooms including removing any and all trash in preparation for cleaning
  • Distribute the necessary items to the assigned housekeepers
  • Maintain all hallways, window sills, door frames, and base boards to ensure they are free from dust and/or scuffs
  • Take care of any guest’s special requests for pre-arrival e.g. extra towels
  • Sweep and/or vacuum and mop hallways on a daily basis
  • Clean inside the elevators and polish elevator tracks and landings twice daily
  • Maintain closets in order and keep par levels to standard
  • Keep stairwells and ice machine areas free from debris
  • Deep clean on rotational schedule
  • Assist in the restocking and reorganizing the housekeepers’ carts daily
  • Maintain cleanliness and order of work area such as closets, carts, and the housekeeping office(s)
  • Communicate with manager and/or supervisor on inventory needs e.g. amenities, pillow cases, bed linen, robes, etc.
  • Report any light outages, broken equipment, or room disparities to manager paying close attention to hallway areas
  • Acknowledge guest in all public spaces with a warm and friendly greeting
  • Assist guest with any specials requests
  • Respect all guests, team members, and management by maintaining a positive, friendly attitude
  • Maintain guest confidentiality following all hotel procedures
  • Report any suspicious activity or unusual items in room
  • Report any irregular behavior from guests in public areas and/or in rooms
  • Follow all hotel policies and procedures as outlined in the team member handbook
  • Follow scheduled shifts and follow break and lunch requirements

Qualification Standards

Education & Experience

  • High School diploma or higher
  • Previous hospitality experience preferred
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to use technology e.g. tablets, iPads

Physical Demands

  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to squat and bend
  • Ability to communicate clearly
  • Corrected vision to normal range
  • Ability to work long hours as needed
  • Ability to lift / push / pull 50 lbs.

Mental Demands

  • Ability to interact with guests and share hotel knowledge using personalization, such as using the guest name
  • Ability to take initiative and handle assignments with limited supervision
  • Make sound judgments quickly
  • Work on multiple tasks, making appropriate progress towards deadlines
  • Able to work independently, take direction, and provide direction to others
  • Manage differing personalities within the office, the hotel, and the community
  • Maintain the highest degree of confidentiality
  • Ability to work effectively in stressful, high pressure situations
  • Ability to effectively handle challenges in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: From $14.00 per hour
