Madelia Health is searching for a Hospital Nursing Director to join our Team. This is a Full-Time/Exempt position and hours vary based on needs of business, predominantly regular business hours.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Hospital Nursing Director is accountable for the technical and managerial functions of the med surg, emergency and surgery departments with direction from the Chief Clinical Officer. Plans, organizes, and directs activities of the nursing staff and support staff engaged in patient care practices in accordance with Madelia Health policies, procedures and standards. Manages and maintains standards for Trauma and Stroke designations as well as ensuring all regulatory requirements are met. Additionally, the Hospital Nursing Director may provide direct patient care to patients on an as needed basis in all departments of oversight.

Summary of Tasks & Responsibilities:

• Solid understanding of budgeting, resourcing and performance evaluation procedures
• Excellent knowledge of standards (e.g. ISO) and regulations for the area of supervision
• Proficient in MS Office and computer systems (e.g. patient management software)
• Excellent communication and people skills
• Exceptional organizational and leadership skills
• Aptitude in resolving issues and conflicts
• Creates standard work using evidenced-based best practices to ensure safe, high-quality care.
• Direct oversight of caregivers and operations of Emergency Department, Med Surg/Swingbed and Surgery.
• Works collaboratively with staff to ensure staffing ratios are adequate to meet the needs and safety of caregivers and patients.
• Maintains compliance with regulatory requirements for all surveying entities.
• Assists in continuous staff education including but not limited to departmental orientation, evidence-based best practice implementation and ongoing skill mastery.
• Serves as the Trauma Coordinator and maintains Level 4 Trauma designation
• Serves as the Stroke Coordinator and maintains Acute Stroke Ready designation

Qualifications:

• Licensure: Unrestricted MN RN License
• Experience: 3+ years leadership experience, 5+ years Med Surg/ER and/or OR experience.
• Education: BSN required or in progress, MSN preferred
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and TNCC or CALS
• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Must have a high standard of ethics, discipline and professionalism
• The ideal candidate will possess strong critical thinking skills and aptitude to create standard work using evidenced-based best practices to ensure safe, high-quality care.
