The Early Head Start Home Visitor provides high quality in-home education, support, and monitoring, as well as group socialization experiences, for Early Head Start program participants that drives designated program outcomes. This involves conducting weekly home visits, facilitating group activities, and reporting on participant progress. Overall, the Early Head Start Home Visitor contributes to the CHS high performance culture by exhibiting our values and providing quality results that position CHS as the leader in delivering proactive behavioral health, case management, community and early childhood solutions for children and families.

Primary Job Functions
- Conduct weekly home visits of at least 90-minute duration with Early Head Start children and their families.
- Deliver child development curriculum during home visits and in family group activities.
- Facilitate family group activities and socialization experiences.
- Provide education and support services to families.
- Conduct screening and developmental assessment of participant children.
- Work with families to develop appropriate goals as part of family partnership agreements.
- Encourage parental involvement in curriculum planning, program governance and other aspects of the program.
- Monitor and evaluate children’s health status, medical appointments and nutrition.
- Provide information and referrals as needed.
- Advocate on behalf of program participants.
- Document program activities and progress.
- Transport clients as needed.
- Implement home-based learning experiences following the home visiting curriculum.
- Promote client’s progress as described in the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework: Ages Birth to Five; including children with disabilities and dual language learners.
- Build respectful, culturally responsive, and trusting relationships with families.
- Use Microsoft Office software, including Outlook, to perform essential functions.
- Perform data entry into applicable databases.
- Develop a strong knowledge base and stay current on Early Head Start issues and trends.
- Participate actively in departmental meetings, training and education, as well as the quality process.
- Comply with CHS’s code of conduct, policies, procedures, and other obligations.
- Assist with training other team members and providing back up when necessary.
- Pick up projects on the fly; perform other duties as assigned from time to time.
- Demonstrate the CHS Common Bond Values in the performance of all job duties.
Job Qualifications
Education, Licenses and Certifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent, required, with Home Visitor/Infant-Toddler Children Development Associate (CDA) credential, required, OR:
- Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or equivalent college/university coursework (with at least 6.0 hours in Early Childhood/Child Development), OR:
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or Elementary Education (with certification to work with birth to 6th grade), or related field.
Experience:
- Experience working with children, ages birth to five.
- Two years’ experience working with young children and families in a Human Services setting

- Recognize importance of social, economic, environmental factors in the development and resolution of personal/family problems
- Be sensitive to service population’s cultural/socioeconomic characteristics

- Handle confidential information appropriately
- Perform at a high level of autonomy, with minimal supervision
- Work on multiple tasks while maintaining a high attention to detail, accuracy and quality
