GENERAL SUMMARY:
A Head Start Program Coach will establish coaching partnerships with Head Start Teachers that promote early childhood best practices, curriculum implementation, and effective teacher-child interactions. The Coach will be responsible for providing one on one coaching and collaborating with teachers as well as monitoring and tracking results and progress of each individual in order to increase job skills.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Perform observations of classrooms using various observational tools.
- Assist with implementation of PBIS and social emotional instruction in each classroom.
- Adhere to the research-based Practice Based Coaching strategy through the consistent implementation of the program’s coaching plan for teachers.
- Review or conduct assessments on all education staff to identify strengths and areas of needed support. Based upon assessments, determine level of coaching required for each teacher and provide coaching based upon the levels illustrated within the program coaching plan.
- Receive necessary training and maintain reliability for observation tools as required.
- Develop and monitor individual coaching plans with specific goals and areas for growth.
- Review coaching goals with Center Supervisors and other necessary leadership staff and report on implementation progress.
- Maintain ongoing communication with Center Supervisors, Educational Coordinator, Head Start/Early Head Start Assistant Director and Head Start/Early Head Start Director.
- Perform other duties or complete other projects as assigned.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, and ABILITIES:
1. Ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines.
2. Ability to obtain and maintain a driver’s license, automobile, and current valid insurance in order to travel to designation locations.
3. Knowledge of Agency’s policies, practices and procedures.
4. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, management, and various other business and community contacts.
5. Ability to work with confidential information.
6. Ability to work in a team-based environment.
7. Ability to adapt to the organization’s changing needs.
8. Ability to pass a physical examination.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Educational requirements of the position include a baccalaureate or advanced degree in early childhood education with experience teaching preschool-age children.
