TITLE: Guidance Clerk/Paraprofessional

QUALIFICATIONS:

REPORTS TO: School Principal

SUPERVISES: N/A

Job Goal: This is work of a confidential nature. This individual works under the general supervision of the Principal or designee, and will assist with local and state mandated student accountability and assessment. An employee in this class, with general supervision from an assigned administrator, assists administrators and counselors in their work. Work is reviewed periodically for completeness, accuracy and timeliness.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintain records as required
• Coordinate activities and programs as required by the Guidance Department
• Show sensitivity to students, parents and community
• Provide outstanding positive interpersonal communication skills
• Make all decisions and perform all tasks in accordance with the organizational values of Bay Haven Charter Academy
• Ensure compliance with Board rules and applicable federal laws and regulations
• Arrange parent and/or student conferences with teachers and counselors
• Distributing student progress reports and/or student information as needed
• Securing homework assignments for students when applicable
• Preparing and distributing correspondence
• Student guidance newsletter
• Recording minutes of guidance department meetings
• Maintaining guidance-related files on each student
• Screening calls
• Assisting parents and/or students in guidance related matters
• May become involved in confidential situations requiring liaison activities between guidance department and other services
• Information input/retrieval and generating reports
• Assist with state and county standardized testing
• Offer MTSS support
• Maintain confidentiality
• And all other duties assigned by the principal and/or guidance counselor

Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Board of Directors pursuant to the rules and regulations of the school board and the State Board of Education.
