The Opportunity
CEO is seeking a Grants Accountant who will be responsible for the management and submission of contract billings and the collection of government contract receivables in accordance with grantor and agency guidelines. The Grants Accountant will be timely and accurate in their preparation and submission of vouchers, compliance reports, and revenue recordings. This position requires both critical and analytical thinking in order to ensure the achievement of team and organizational goals.

Who We Are
The Center for Employment Opportunities (CEO) provides employment services to people with recent criminal convictions. Across the United States, over 6,000 people participate in CEO each year, transitioning to employment that supports themselves, their families, and their communities.
What began as a demonstration project of the Vera Institute of Justice in the 1970s to address employment barriers facing the formerly incarcerated following release in New York City has grown into the leading reentry employment organization in the country, where over 25,000 formerly incarcerated individuals have secured full-time employment since 1996. In 2016, CEO embarked on a 5-year strategic plan to grow to serve 9,000 participants annually.
Who You Are
- You have a deep commitment to and passion for the mission of CEO
- You have a minimum 5 years of experience in grants/contracts reporting and compliance in a nonprofit
- You have excellent organization skills and a proven ability to multitask, problem solve, and prioritize
- You have the ability to work well as a member of a team while also working effectively independently with minimal supervision
- You have problem-solving skills with an ability to analyze situations both analytically and critically
- You have the ability to adapt to changes in compliance systems
- You have the ability to communicate effectively with fiscal and program staff, vendors and clients/grantors.
- You have the ability to juggle competing priorities and projects concurrently and accurately
- You have a strong dedication to achieving goals and delivering results
- You have a proficiency in Excel and with accounting software (Blackbaud Financial Edge and/or MIP preferred)
- You have a knowledge of fund accounting, GAAP, payroll concepts, reporting, and other applicable accounting principles
- You have an understanding of OMB Circular A-122 and A-133 guidelines
- You have experience with Intact strongly preferred
What You'll Be Responsible For
Key responsibilities of the (title) include but are not limited to:
- Developing and maintaining a contracts management schedule which includes critical dates for contract renewals and program and/or budget modifications
- Breaking down contract performance information for and building the knowledge of managers without financial backgrounds
- Preparing and submitting vouchers and invoices in a timely manner.
- Preparing monthly and quarterly financial reports required by governmental agencies
- Providing detailed reporting of outstanding government contract receivables
- Assisting in the evaluation of agency compliance with contract and funder requirements and agency policies and procedures related to program compliance
- Developing contract variance reports on a monthly basis
- Supporting the preparation of budget information and budget modification process
- Providing audit support including preparation of schedules, analyses and documents for timely completion of funder audits, and ensuring timely preparation for the audit
- Preparing account analyses and contract renewals
- Assigning programmatic and funding allocations to all expenditures
- Periodically conducting internal audits of client files and fiscal documentation
- Acting as an additional liaison between the agency and grantors
- Participating in monthly meetings with Program to review receivables and expenditures related to contracts/grants
- Prepare journal entries and provide support for making adjustments in our Ledger
- Maintain an accurate cost allocation table of expenditures
- Performing other duties that will be requested from time to time
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $50,200-60,400 annually CEO's compensation philosophy considers a variety of factors including experience, internal equity, and the labor market associated with the city in which the position is located. This position can be located in any of the cities in which CEO operates. The labor markets associated with the cities in which CEO is based are variable, and the salary range included here reflects this. Our salary offer will fall within this range and will be reflective of the labor market of the city in which the position is based, as well the other factors named above.
