We are currently seeking a Furnace Helper at our facility in Monroe, NC. As a Furnace Helper, you are an integral part of a successful team that is responsible for supporting our operations in the Nickel Melt Shop.

As a furnace helper, you will be responsible for assisting Melters in pouring molten metal into molds, removing hot, solidified metal from molds, and welding lifting lugs onto raw materials. A successful candidate will need to demonstrate an eagerness to learn and to be challenged. Strong communication, commitment to teamwork, and attention to detail are also important in this role.

This is a night shift position from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am, working on a rotating 2-2-3 schedule. You will work 2 days, have 2 days off, work 3 days; then 2 days off, work 2 days, then have 3 days off. Training will take place on the same shift and schedule.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Perform a wide variety of tasks to assist in set-up, running, and tearing down furnaces
  • Identify material coming out of molds
  • Transport and ship electrodes
  • Maintain logs and records
  • Follow prescribed safety regulations
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and legible logs, records, and charts
Requirements:
Basic Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED
Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least one (1) year of manufacturing experience
Skills:
  • Basic math skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to read and understand instructions
  • Use measuring devices like gauges, meters, calipers and measuring tapes
  • Operate heavy machinery such as forklifts and cranes
  • Ability to lift objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds, work in hot conditions and climb steps
  • Must be able to pass Respirator Protection screening
