Full Time Days-Spec Medical Staff Job at Adena Health System
The Medical Staff Specialist shares responsibility for the management and oversight of the daily operations of the Medical Staff Office; and provides support and assistance to the Medical Staff elected officials and other members of the staff as necessary. The Medical Staff Specialist serves as the principal staff and assists Medical Staff Services management and the System Director, Quality & Medical Staff Services in the facilitation of issues related to the medical staff organization, graduate medical education, physician relations, and physician orientation. The Medical Staff Specialist shares responsibility for the coordination of all credentialing functions of the Medical Staff. Individuals in this position may be assigned and/or cross trained to work with the Medical Executive Committee, Credentialing Committee, and ad hoc Committees. Responsibilities include assisting with the coordination of the activities of the Medical Executive Committee, Credentials Committee, and Medical Staff Committees to ensure compliance with all regulatory / accreditation standards and the confidentiality of all associated functions. The Medical Staff Specialist will work with Division Chairs in the development of core privileges and policies/procedures related to the medical staff, by-law revisions, processes related to appointments, reappointment and associated privileges. The Medical Staff Specialist must have an excellent knowledge of the application of the Medical Staff Bylaws and associated committee / leadership structures. This position provides no direct patient care and has access to confidential information.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively in strategic & departmental planning to enhance operational efficiencies & daily operational effectiveness.

- Formulates and assists in the implementation of improvement strategies as part of a planned change process.
- Promotes daily operational effectiveness through system evaluation & progressive management to achieve departmental goals & objectives
- Develops & monitors systems and methods to evaluate the effectiveness of implemented goals.
- Effective & collaborative communications with all members of the Adena Health System & community.
- Designs & implements policies, procedures & standards to meet regulatory requirements of the department & impacted portions of the healthcare system.
- Manages departmental budget within established guidelines.
- Assists in staff development through coaching & ongoing educational opportunities.
- Assists in the coordination of functions related to Credentials Committee to include agenda preparation & minutes, follow-up of information for the committee & communication of credentialing activities to the Medical Executive Committee & the Board of Trustees
Required Education or Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree
- Major/Area of Concentration:
- or five years of experience in an administrative healthcare setting
