Summary:

The Financial Planning Consultant works with financial representatives to deliver financial security to their clients through a comprehensive planning process that integrates risk and investment products.

Specific responsibilities include but will not be limited to:

Consultation and Education

Promote, utilize, and reinforce a planning culture aligned to Northwestern Mutual’s planning philosophy and best practices

 Provide one on one case consultation on :

  • Planning process including life stage planning along with mentoring on how to present a plan to a client
  • Product options based on the needs of the client, risk profile, time horizon and preferences. The product options need to be in the best interest of the client. Inform the financial representative of any potential tax consequences, costs and/or breakpoint information and provide mentoring on how to present the product options to the client. Provide clear case specific documentation on the product options and rationale.

Reinforce registered representative adherence with network office business and compliance guidelines
 Reinforce the financial representative’s development and growth goals

Identify additional resources for financial representatives to work with (e.g. joint work partners, product line specialists)

Case Preparation

  • Prepare, or collaborate with others, to develop consistent, high quality life stage appropriate plans for every Financial Representative subscribing to the Financial Planning unit
  • Prepare, or collaborate with others, to develop an integrated package for Financial Representatives to deliver to their clients as part of a pre‐sale package

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, finance and/or related field
  • Life, Accident & Health Insurance licenses
  • Series 6 & 63
  • Advisory services and broker/dealer experience with demonstrated investment knowledge and understanding of markets, products, platforms, and services
  • Ability to assess client financial situations and analyze portfolios to develop and implement comprehensive financial plans aligned with client goals
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work well with others

Preferred

  • Minimum of 5 years of advisory sales experience
  • 2‐3 years financial planning experience
  • Series 7 & 63
  • Counsel representatives on a variety of proactive approaches, investments and solutions
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy and reliability with the ability to thrive in a fast‐paced environment
  • Committed to professional development (e.g. CLU, ChFC, CFP)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 per year

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
