Overview:

Position is responsible for all aspects of skilled ice maintenance & ice management at the Xtream Arena and The Rink at Coral Ridge under general direction of the Director of Operations. Xtream Arena is the home of the Iowa Heartlanders who play in the ECHL. This position will split time between both venues and is ultimately responsible for the quality of ice at both locations.


his role will pay an hourly wage of $19.23 to $24.04/hr.

Xtream Arena powered by Mediacom & GreenState Family Fieldhouse serves as a highly accessible and most importantly right sized venue for concerts, family shows, and special events. Xtream Arena & GreenState Family Fieldhouse fulfills a longstanding community and economic development void in Coralville and surrounding areas.
Responsibilities:
  • Maintain optimal operation and cleanliness of ice plants including, but not limited to, adapting plant operation to building needs; recording and keeping adequate supplies in stock
  • Maintain building conditions via the HVAC for optimal operating and patron comfort during both ice events and non-ice events
  • Maintain ice at ECHL caliber level including resurfacing, edging and maintaining depth
  • Maintain safe and playable boards and glass by inspecting and repairing boards/kick plates, glass poles and all doors
  • Monitoring and regenerating de-ionized water systems by recording pH levels daily
  • Keeping adequate supplies in stock and regenerate systems with proper use of safety equipment
  • Inspect and maintain ice equipment daily, monthly, annually
  • Coordinate with blade sharpener to schedule blade sharpening maintenance
  • Safely operates Zamboni before, during and after events & practices, along with other ice equipment
  • Train and schedule part time ice resurfacing drivers for events as required
  • Oversee the operation, maintenance, and repair of plant equipment and auxiliary systems; recommends operational methods and procedures
  • With management approval, orders products, tools, supplies for maintenance and repair
  • Work in accordance with Oakview Group safety policies / procedures, along with local, state, federal, OSHA guidelines
  • Clearly, effectively and timely communicate work issues with management
  • Maintain preventive maintenance plan for ice resurfacers and all associated ice equipment
  • Support in the Operations Department in the area of maintenance and projects as required / directed
  • Provide timely and effective communication with management and staff on building / equipment needs
  • Participates in ongoing technical, safety and operational training programs as required
  • Willingness to be on-call to report for emergencies as required
  • Willingness to be available to work the majority of ice events in the Arena
  • Maintains professional working relationships with all internal and external clients
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must possess overall knowledge of ice plant refrigeration packages
  • Demonstrated knowledge in all aspects of ice construction, maintenance, repair, and demolition
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Driver’s License
  • Basic computer experience including ability to accurately fill out web forms; check & respond to email.
  • Ability to effectively work independently and as part of a team; strong interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of OSHA and other local / state / federal safety standards / requirements
  • Possession of professional certifications in the field are highly desirable
  • Ability to work a varied event-driven schedule including early mornings, nights, weekends and holidays
