Title: Facilities/Maintenance Technician

Department: Facilities Supervisor: Facilities Manager Status: Non-Exempt

Summary:

The Facilities/Maintenance Technician actively participates in the maintenance activities required to support Agency residential, outpatient and administrative facilities. This activity includes equipment and machinery (including HVAC), lighting systems, grounds keeping, security, overall facility appearance and
Agency owned/leased vehicles. This position requires interactions with all levels of management and personnel to identify and resolve maintenance issue in a timely and efficient manner.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops and maintains a preventative maintenance program schedule for all facilities and any applicable equipment and machinery.
  • Maintain HVAC equipment, electrical, plumbing, and heating systems.
  • Routine facility owned vehicle inspections.
  • Daily travel to and from Connecticut Renaissance buildings (Norwalk, Stamford, Bridgeport, Waterbury and New Haven).
  • Maintain safe and sanitary work conditions.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics:

  • Knowledge of federal, state and local building, fire and safety codes.
  • Knowledge of essential trade skills, including plumbing, electrical and carpentry.
  • Knowledge of security systems (fire, access control, cameras, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of Food Service equipment and processes.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical systems.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work and make decisions independently.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage priorities effectively.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

Education and Experience:
Education:

  • High School diploma required; Trade school certification is a plus.

Experience:

  • Three (3) years related work experience. Other combinations of relevant education and experience may be considered.

Work Style:

  • Individual must possess integrity, demonstrate initiative/attention to detail, dependable/reliable, ability to deal effectively with ambiguity and problem solve effectively; flexibility/adaptability.

Physical Demands:

In addition to the essential functions, the qualified candidate:

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a motor vehicle
  • Position requires climbing stairs and the ability to lift 50lbs or more
  • Position requires physical activity on a daily basis
  • Requires travel to multiple CTR locations
