Executive Director

The APAC (Arbogast Performing Arts Center) is a non-profit that provides educational opportunities, new forms of creative expression, community pride and positive economic benefits. The cultural enrichment, offered and promoted through a facility dedicated to artistic pursuits, generates lifetime of benefits which are far reaching. The goal of the APAC is to bring added value to regional schools and the greater Miami Valley area with enhanced programs in performing and visual arts. They are currently looking for an Executive Director to join their Board of Directors. The Executive Director will be a proven leader with a passion for the arts whose principal job is to oversee all aspects of Arbogast Performing Arts Center (APAC), ensuring an efficient, effective, and fiscally sound operation. The Executive Director will be sustaining the operation of this not for profit institution through excellent management and business accountability while serving the community through inspirational and entertaining programming and educational activities.

Responsibilities:

  • In accordance with the objectives of the Board, the ED provides full oversight of the organization including fund-raising, strategic planning, board relations, financial stability, community engagement, programming oversight, capital needs, and staff hiring/releasing and management. This includes:
  • Identifying, assessing, and informing the Board of Directors of internal and external issues that affect the organization.
  • Act as a professional advisory to the Board of Director on all aspects of the organization's activities.
  • Communicating effectively with the Board and provide, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions.
  • Scheduling regular Board meetings and Executive Committee meetings; Preparing meeting agendas, minutes, and send all documents to Board Members in advance of meetings. Attending all Board meetings and assist Chairman as needed.
  • Assisting Board committees to develop and implement goals and objectives and name appropriate staff liaisons to work closely with committees.
  • Creating a strategic operating plan and assume joint responsibility with the Board for its implementation, reporting progress towards its goals fulfilling the Mission and Vision Statements
  • Maintaining all necessary legal documents as required by the State of Ohio and as requested by the Board of Directors.
  • Directing administrative personnel relations to ensure that the organization is effectively structured and staffed with competent employees
  • Hiring, training, nurturing and motivating qualified staff to provide maximum effectiveness of the organization.
  • Responsible for fundraising and developing other resources necessary to support the company mission.
  • Negotiating with agents, complete contracts and be responsible for delivering contractual needs to be fulfilled by appropriate staff.
  • Maintain fiscal responsibility for overall budget, and ensure the most effective use of financial resources.
  • Oversee management of cash flow and present appropriate balance sheets, income statements, and other financial oversight tools for Board review.
  • Attend public and private functions, as well as attend conferences and trade shows as needed to provide active and current programming.
  • Establishing good working relationships and collaborative arrangements with community groups, funders, politicians, and other organizations to help achieve the goals of the organization.
  • Identify and evaluate the risks to the organization's people (clients, staff, management, volunteers), property, finances, goodwill, and image and implement measures to control risks]
  • Ensuring that the Board of Directors and the organization carries appropriate and adequate insurance coverage and that the Board and staff understand the terms, conditions and limitations
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • Proven leadership experience in the management of not for profit organizations
  • Experience working in the arts industry
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook required
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks with precision
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve
  • High level of attention to detail
