The Division of Youth and Family Justice is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Executive Director of Administration. This position reports directly to the Assistant Commissioner and is responsible for the day-to-day compliance management of the facility.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Coordinate and track staff professional development and ensures all staff are scheduled for and receive annual training mandated by state oversight regulations.
  • Track overtime and helps to devise and implement strategies to minimize overtime.
  • Monitor the staffing levels of the facility to ensure a balanced allocation of staff across work tours.
  • Ensure tasks and standards and performance evaluations for all facility personnel are submitted timely.
  • Liaise with the Agency’s Employee Law Unit regarding disciplinary referrals.
  • Liaise with the ACS Human Resources Unit regarding City Time, worker’s compensation cases, other long-term staff leaves, as well as employee clearances.
  • Manage the Housekeeping Unit that is responsible for daily cleaning of the facility and laundry services for the youth.
  • Supervise the day-to-day operations of the Security Unit that is responsible for perimeter security and for response to internal youth disturbances.
  • Ensure daily patrols and searches are conducted, contraband is secured and purged, youth arrests are appropriately conducted, and security personnel are posted during special events and family visitation.
  • Liaise with the NYC Department of Investigation, NYS Justice Center, and the NYS Office of Children and Family Services.
  • Coordinate with the ACS Admin/Facilities Division to ensure that facility repairs are performed in a timely manner.
  • Monitor and assist with facility operations, programs, and special projects as directed.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

1. A master's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work and four years of full-time, paid professional experience in a child care institution or in group work with children in a child care setting, including two years in an administrative capacity; or

2. A master's degree from an accredited college in sociology, psychology, education, public administration or a closely related field, and five years of full-time paid professional experience as described in "1" above including two years in an administrative capacity; or

3. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have two years of administrative experience in a child care setting.

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
