Summary
Whatcom County Public Works is seeking a proven leader to serve as Engineering Manager for the Development section of Engineering Services. The Development section is responsible for the review of engineering and survey requirements for land development projects, including preliminary and final subdivisions, short subdivisions, master planned developments, commercial developments, boundary line adjustments, and land disturbance permits. Primary duties include:
Performing engineering review and inspection of land development projects.- Providing critical review of design calculations and construction plans assuring compliance with adopted standards and requirements.
- Working with Engineers, land developers & property owners.
- Assisting in the development of master plans for transportation systems, facilities and features.
- Supervising the inspection of development project construction for conformity with approved plans and legal requirements.
- Authorizing and permitting private work within County rights-of-way.

Qualifications
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
AND five years of progressively responsible professional engineering experience related to the area of assignment
INCLUDING two years of supervisory experience and one year as a Registered Professional Engineer.
Experience in the public sector and with intergovernmental or interagency agreements is preferred.
