SUMMARY
- Support transition age individuals during the Summer Earn and Learn Internship from TWS-VR.
- Teach and reinforce skills while establishing any needed accommodations to individuals with significant disabilities to increase their independence and their ability to meet the employer’s expectations and production standards.
- Observe the individual to identify and solve potential problems related to the individual’s employment success before the problem becomes an issue for the individual, employer, or co-workers.
- Gradually reduce the time spent with the consumer at the job site, as the consumer becomes better adjusted and more independent.
- Coordinate with the individual, their employer and family support along with Texas Workforce Solutions- Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors and Supported Employment team as needed.
- Use excellent written and verbal communication skills, problem solving skills and effective time management skills.
- Travel from job site to job site on a daily basis depending on caseload.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for job training onsite based on individual’s support needs.
- Gradually fading away from job sites while anticipating new problems and developing natural supports for individuals.
- Clearly communicates with the individual, employer and family to help understand the employment process.
- Ensures the Texas Workforce Solutions Counselors and RA’s are updated as needed.
- Tracks and completes all billing documentation in a concise and timely manner.
- Completes all documentation into Anasazi within given timeframe.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or GED (Required Minimum Qualification)
- One year of documented experience providing employment services to people with disabilities (Preferred)
- Completion of an approved Job Coach / Job Skills Trainer Credential (within 30 days of employment).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to work independently, organize a variety of assignments efficiently and prioritize responses to changing needs of individuals.
- Ability to articulate clearly and concisely both in verbal and written communications and completion of billing benchmark forms.
- Ability to track due dates and complete reports in a timely manner.
- Ability to break down a task into teachable steps and formulate a training plan.
- Ability to use office equipment and technology.
- Ability to cope with frustration while serving in outcome based services.
- Ability to work in a non-judgmental manner with individuals whose beliefs systems may be based on different values.
- Ability to make constructive use of professional supervision.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Able to complete all LifePath Systems required training.
- Able to complete all required UNTWISE certifications and required CEU to maintain certifications.
- Must have valid Texas Drivers License and good driving record.
- Must be able to pass criminal history and driving records checks.
BENEFITS
Salary: $36,000 per year
Shift: Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm
