Job Description

Job Title: Creative Arts Coordinator

(DSP) , Day Programs

Reports To: Program Director Pay Type: Hourly

Position Purpose: To provide vocational and/or skills training to persons with developmental disabilities.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Serve on Clients’ Person-Centered Planning Committee
• Assist client in selecting realistic goals and objectives
• Assess, evaluate, implement and chart client's progress on goals and objectives
• Pick-up and drop off clients according to written schedules
• Adhere to external employment site-rules, regulations and scheduled work hours
• Record data and maintain field books
• Follow all policies and procedures as they relate to job performance
• Assist in maintaining SVS vehicles by regular inspections and identifying problems
• Follow SVS vehicle rules when driving SVS vehicles
• Assist clients with personal and hygiene issues when needed
• Provide constant supervision to clients
• Train and monitor clients in site specific safety procedures including infection control
• Accept changes in assigned clients or program sites as directed
• All other duties assigned by the Program Director.
• Mandated Abuse Reporter

Education and Work Experience: High School Diploma, GED or equivalent. Familiarity with developmental disabilities; an understanding of the philosophy of community-based and work programs; awareness of principles of normalization and development; effective writing skills and ability to chart data, to track client progress and generate reports in an accurate and timely manner; ability to deal effectively with staff, clients and outside community. Must be able to read, write and speak English.

Driving and License Requirements: Must have a good driving record and a valid California
Driver’s License. May be required to drive 9 passenger van.

Criminal Record Clearance: Must obtain Department of Justice/FBI fingerprint clearance prior to hire.

Additional Requirements: Must obtain and maintain First Aid/CPR certification. Must be able to pass a post-job offer job-related physical exam, to include a negative TB test if work will be in a licensed facility. Certain locations require the ability to pass a drug screening prior to hire; and randomly thereafter.

Work Environment: Moderate noise level, with occasional increases to higher than moderate noise levels; may occasionally be exposed to heat, cold, dust, fumes and inclement weather conditions.

Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee regularly is required to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms, regularly stands and walks for up to two hours at a time. Frequently stoops, bends, kneels, reaches, pushes, pulls and lifts up to

25 pounds. Must be capable of manipulating wheelchairs, walkers and positioning non- ambulatory adult clients. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Authority and Supervisory Capacity: Provides client supervision, but does not supervise SVS staff.

Access to Sensitive Information: Familiarity with records and files of clients with whom we work is expected.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
