Drafter I Job at Central States Manufacturing, Inc.
JOB SUMMARY: The Drafter I uses software to create metal building drawings, specifications, and material take-offs for internal and external customers.
JOB DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Draws and details basic self-storage projects, metal roofs, or pre-engineered metal buildings for customers and company using AutoCAD, MBS, TEKLA, Top View or other computer aided drafting technology.
- Interprets construction drawings and specifications as well as verbal instructions.
- Provides sales with the necessary details to estimate customer requests.
- Able to meet multiple project deadlines while providing accurate project deliverables.
- Provides accurate redlined revisions to drawings and material parts lists.
- Able to learn and use other software for miscellaneous projects (ex: plant engineering, marketing, product design, or installation guides).
- Interacts with internal and external customers in order to clarify project scope, details, and product limitations.
- Communicates with internal customers regarding project information, status, and schedule.
- Administration functions such as plotting, binding, and mailing drawings as required.
- Manage basic outsourced drafting projects (assemble, send, check, finalize) for basic self-storage or pre-engineered metal buildings.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Two-year degree in a related field, with certification in AutoCAD, or equivalent experience.
- Proficient in AutoCAD.
- Experience with Top-View, MBS, or TEKLA software is preferred.
- Construction knowledge is preferred.
- Ability to successfully produce drawings and accurate material parts lists to support the sales and installation of our metal building products.
- Must have strong written and verbal communications skills and display exceptional customer service.
- Ability to work overtime.
