Placement on the Yosemite Community College District salary schedule dependent upon education and experience. 2022-2023 Salary Schedule – $66,698 to $124,506 per year, plus an annual $2,725 stipend for an earned doctorate. New personnel limited to a maximum tenth step initial placement based on previous experience – maximum equals $ 103,538.

Required Quals Summary
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Possession of a Master’s degree in any area from an accredited institution, plus two years of online instructional implementation, instructional design, or closely equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of learning theories, distance learning principles, and instructional delivery methods. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated proficiency in Canvas or other learning management systems. Experience with online teaching and learning programs in high tech or higher education.

Job Description Summary
GENERAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
All full-time faculty are expected to participate actively in their disciplines, department activities, and the general intellectual life and governance of the college. Part of the assignment may be online, in the evening, and/or on Saturdays. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Design and deliver training related to high quality, effective online technology-enabled teaching and learning initiatives.
  • Provide training to increase distance learning success rates of students.
  • Coordinate faculty online certification process.
  • Participate with Distance Education staff and others in the coordination and delivery of college online initiatives.
  • Advise and assist Subject Matter Experts in developing and revising course content that meets course learning objectives and outcomes, integrating rich media to enhance student interaction and learning, adapting instructional materials from one format to another (i.e. face-to-face to online), assessing and analyzing current and emerging technologies related to online teaching.
  • Create course design templates, models, and tools.
  • Attend division and general college meetings as well as participate in various division, college, and district committees related to online instruction and instructional technology.
  • Facilitate the Distance Education Committee meetings and participate as a voting member on the Curriculum Committee, focusing on distance education issues.
  • Act as a liaison with the CCCDECO (California Community College Distance Education Coordinator Organization) and CVC-OEI Consortium.
  • Through shared organizational decision-making process, evaluate, recommend, and implement solutions related to program/course development, new design, technology adoption, initiative, or change implementation.
  • Maintain current knowledge of issues and concerns under discussion in the profession nationally and internationally.
  • Develop and offer online student orientation materials for students wishing to study online.
  • Participate in program review and revision and in the development and assessment of Program Learning Outcomes.
  • Provide support to deans and peer evaluators for online course evaluation.
  • Posting and holding sufficient and regular office hours in accordance with prevailing policy.
  • Develop, implement, and assess student-learning outcomes and use the results for improvement.
  • Collaborate in the development and revision of curriculum.
  • Actively participate in the accreditation cycle.
  • Collaborate in the development and revision of program review and engage in program improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in professional development activities, both departmental and college-wide, especially in connection to statewide initiatives.
  • Engage in data inquiry and self-assessment to develop strategies for student success, persistence, and equity.
  • Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter area and effective teaching/learning strategies.
  • Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
  • Engage in the college’s participatory governance processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Preferred Qualifications
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education and/or experience in teaching online (community college experience preferred).
  • Knowledge of CVC-OEI Course Design Rubric.
  • Knowledge of current theories and methods in online instruction, familiarity with Web technologies, and understanding of online course accessibility issues and online copyright law.
  • Completion of an accredited online teaching certification program, or equivalent training
  • Current understanding of assessment processes for improving student success at the course, program, and degree level.
  • Competency in current pedagogies, online or hybrid teaching, and other strategies directed at improving student success and student equity.
