The Director, Training & Development for Underwriting Success will be responsible for developing and leading the education and professional development of NSM’s underwriting teams. Our ideal candidate will possess strong technical property and casualty Insurance industry knowledge. In this role, the Director will work closely with Senior Leadership to create and execute a strategic training and development program to equip our underwriting teams with the knowledge, practical skills, and motivation to be successful in their role within NSM. (Hybrid role, 2-3 days in office at our Conshohocken, PA office)** Responsibilities:

The Director, Training & Development for Underwriting Success will be responsible for developing and leading the education and professional development of NSM’s underwriting teams. Our ideal candidate will possess strong technical property and casualty Insurance industry knowledge. In this role, the Director will work closely with Senior Leadership to create and execute a strategic training and development program to equip our underwriting teams with the knowledge, practical skills, and motivation to be successful in their role within NSM. - Develop and lead a training strategy for NSM underwriters by tailoring the program to meet both the organization’s and the individual's needs.
- Influentially lead underwriters in various segments on best practices and guidelines.
- Identify training and development needs through job analysis, surveys, and consultation with department leaders.
- Develop innovative training materials including online modules, instruction manuals, guides, presentations, handouts, and other course materials.
- Assist department leaders to solve specific training issues through the development of employee appraisals and individual learning paths.
- Continued partnership with external industry vendors for continuing education and development opportunities, as needed.
- Conduct orientation sessions, interviews, evaluations, and surveys regularly with Management, Instructors, and Staff Members for solicitation of feedback of the program.
- Research new technologies and methodologies in organizational (and industry specific) learning to provide alternative methods of training.
- Evaluate and monitor the cost of program implementation and maintain cost effectiveness throughout.
- Act as a technical resource for the Underwriting Teams.
- Conduct research and analysis of ISO rules, forms and Underwriting Best Practices as needed for CUO.
- Research and implementation of underwriting behavior changes.
- Technical underwriting projects, as needed.
- Additional duties, as needed.
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferred.
- 10+ years’ Property and Casualty Insurance experience, required. Other insurance lines a bonus.
- Prior training and development experience within the insurance industry.
- Excellent interpersonal, writing, communication, and project management skills.
- Analytical, detail-oriented, organized, results-oriented, and ability to multi-task.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively with all levels across the organization.
- Ability to travel to other office locations (about once per quarter).
