Nat Geo Media, which resides in Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution (DMED), is the digital publisher of National Geographic's signature content, breath taking photography, iconic magazine, and unsurpassed social media presence. This team is responsible for engaging our audience with fantastic storytelling and pulling them into a recurring revenue relationship with Nat Geo. The Nat Geo Media team covers everything on the consumer journey, from print, digital, social, and audio content creation, generating awareness through social and newsletters, acquisition, and retention marketing, print operations, international licensing, and digital platforms. Nat Geo Media aims to become the largest publisher for everyone passionate about exploring the world and learning how to care for it.
Job Summary:
The Director, Partner Development and Solutions will work across teams to optimize advertising revenue opportunities that will exceed revenue goals and evaluate consumer revenue opportunities that sit outside of advertising with an eye toward developing new revenue streams including commerce from affiliate sales. A core tenant of our NG Media strategy it to create meaningful marketing partnerships to drive subscription acquisition and enhance the subscription value proposition. This role is also responsible for the partnership strategy, deal structure and partner management.
Responsibilities and Duties of the Role:
Lead development and delivery of consumer revenue monetization strategies in partnership with the Editorial Team and Disney Ad Sales. Build compelling brand partnership packages around Nat Geo’s annual franchises (ie: Year in Pictures) and develop a partner-focused travel strategy.
Develop an integrated commerce strategy and platform in partnership with Editorial that further monetizes Nat Geo’s global fanbase.
Leads partner development including setting strategy to align with revenue growth goals, negotiating deal terms, assessing performance, communicating needs and resolving issues.
Manages the team that provides consultation, delivery and reporting of partner specific custom campaigns.
Collaborate across TWDC to identify existing partnerships that can serve to advance Nat Geo’s growth objectives.
Required Education, Experience/Skills/Training:
Qualifications
Minimum of 10 years in media with experience in business development, partner management, ad sales, account mgmt.
A clear and consistent communicator who develops people, inspires them to succeed, and is committed to actively supporting a diverse and inclusive work environment.
A history of meeting and exceeding revenue targets is required.
Experience in developing consumer business opportunities in digital media, specifically experience in affiliate commerce.
Experience negotiating deal terms and navigating contracts.
Knowledge of travel industry and trends.
Ability to travel as needed.
BA/BS from a four-year accredited college or university, MBA highly preferred

The hiring range for this position in New York is $167,200 to $209,000 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
