Principal Responsibilities:
PAY RATE/STATUS: $100-$115k per year DOE / Full-Time, Exempt
The Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center is currently seeking a dynamic Director of Philanthropy to join a team of professionals in a collaborative environment focused on results, growth and building community. Reporting to the CEO, the Director of Philanthropy is responsible for leading the organizational wide shift to a culture of philanthropy. A culture of philanthropy exists when organization-wide attitudes, actions, and systems reflect an understanding, respect, and responsibilitys role in the success of an organization. Philanthropy is the generous way that community members can advance the cause, and can be expressed in financial gifts, volunteering, community engagement, and in many creative forms of bigheartedness. In addition, the Director of Philanthropy will be responsible for creating strategy, organizing, and directing all of the LFJCC & SDCJC's fundraising and philanthropy functions. These functions include, but are not limited to, major gifts, annual giving, planned giving, special events and capital/comprehensive campaigns. This is a leadership position responsible for managing a $3.5 million annual portfolio of contributed income with a team of three professionals. The ideal candidate for this position will have experience leading and motivating team members, and will possess a strong ability to utilize interpersonal skills to develop and maintain positive relationships with a diverse philanthropic community.
Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor degree in Business Management or related field required, Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum 5-7 years' experience leading fundraising/development efforts in a non-profit setting.
- Successful track record in seeking, preparing, securing and monitoring grant proposals.
- Knowledge of Jewish culture preferred.
- Sense of urgency around accuracy and timeliness of financial information.
- Knowledge of budget development and administration.
- Ability to function productively in a fast-paced environment, work independently and accept direction.
- Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience managing a team.
- Excellent communication and math skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities, proposing new ways of creating efficiencies, and guiding departments and employees.
- Detail oriented with the ability to use sound judgment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft suite, Google suite, and ability to learn software systems with minimal supervision. Past experience in Tessitura, Classy, iWave, Salesforce a plus.
Working Conditions:
- Typical office environment and equipment (computer, phone, printer, copy machine, etc.).
Physical Requirements:
- Frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms for long periods of time.
- Occasionally required to lift, pull, climb, kneel, and bend.
- Regularly required to communicate.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to do light lifting (maximum 25 lbs. e.g. box of copy paper) as needed is required.
