SUMMARY STATEMENT:


In this role, The Museum of Science, Boston seeks a collaborative human resources partner who will champion the organization's core values and strategic commitment to attract, retain, advance, and support a broadly multicultural workforce while supporting and advancing a respectful, engaged, and equitable workplace culture.


Reporting to the Chief People Officer, the Director of Talent, Culture, and Belonging leads a team of three and will oversee the strategy and delivery of our employee, volunteer, and internship talent management employee experiences at the Museum alongside our diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility and belonging initiatives. The Director will collaborate regularly with the MOS Management Team, the Museum Diversity committee, and cross-functional museum departments and external partners to advance DEIAB principles.


The Director will be a champion of the organization's core values and strategic commitment to attract, retain, advance, and support a broadly diverse workforce of the highest level of excellence that thrives in a respectful, inclusive, and equitable workplace culture.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and inspire an employee-centered culture that celebrates the principles of inclusivity and belonging.
  • Provide proactive leadership, direction, and collaboration in all areas of human resources and shape the institutional culture.
  • Strategize and oversee the Museum's employee life cycle together with interns and volunteers that includes inclusive recruitment practices, onboarding, succession planning, learning and development, and exit strategy ensuring that it is cost-effective, efficient, and complies with the Museum's diversity, inclusion, accessibility, and belonging plan goals.
  • Direct comprehensive volunteer and internship programs that create meaningful opportunities for volunteers and interns to engage in the power of science. Analyze and redefine current volunteer and internship programs to steward prospective community partners that will engage excluded communities.
  • Lead efforts to establish relationships that build stronger talent pipelines through enhanced sourcing, effective onboarding, and retention programs. Partner with Learning & Development to design and implement strategies, including ongoing education and training programs, to build the capacity of staff to work effectively, respectfully, and equitably across race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender, gender orientation and expression, and other social identities.
  • Promote and foster a unified strategic plan to achieve diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and belonging goals that are directly connected to the Museum's mission, vision, and values.
  • Foster an institutional focus on practices that foster resilience, compassion, equitable practices, innovative thinking, and high-impact work.
  • Create and encourage a sense of partnership and involvement among divisions and departments within the Museum's organizational structure.

An advocate for DEIAB, they will bring their lived experiences and commitment paired with strategies that support cultural change. With experience working in complex, multicultural, and dynamic organizations, this leader is able to deftly navigate conflict and lead courageous conversations with others.

In addition, strong candidates will offer:

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing staff.
  • Certification in human resources (PHR/SPHR and/or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP) and advanced degree desired.
  • Experience working with volunteer and internship programs.
  • Experience working with Affirmative Action programs.
  • Bilingual in English and another language is highly desirable.


    Compensation & Benefits:

    Staff, interns, and volunteers will be required to show proof that they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of employment.
