Director of Operations & Events Job at The VETS
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Oversee maintenance of the facility including but not limited to HVAC, mechanical, electrical, utility and ensure everything is maintained in proper working condition at all times.
· Ensure building is properly cleaned, maintained, and prepared for every event including room setup and special events.
· Hiring, training, supervising, and developing department personnel.
· Prepare and manage department staff schedules.
· Oversee front of house operations during events including house staff, security, concessions, and operations.
· Manage and coordinate equipment and systems maintenance with the Rhode Island Department of Administration.
· Maintain building equipment, including changes to air filters, light bulbs, broken fixtures and use approved vendor list for higher level needs.
· Establish and manage departmental budgets. Control expenditures within limitations of budget parameters.
· Approve payroll and submit labor reports on a weekly basis.
· Oversee ordering and receiving of inventory and supplies.
· Provide strategic leadership and vision in managed departments and organizational focuses such as capital planning, guest experience initiatives and risk management.
· Other tasks as assigned by the General Manager.
Skills and Abilities Required:
· Knowledge of all phases of physical building operation, maintenance, and repair, planning and scheduling,
· Knowledge and skills in working with cleaning equipment such as carpet extractors, floor machines, pressure washers and snow blowers.
· Considerable knowledge of all operational aspects of events (i.e., event services, crowd management, ticketing, house staff and concession functions)
· Ability to communicate effectively utilizing interpersonal skills to maintain effective relationships with other department staff.
· General management and organizational skills necessary to administer a diverse department.
· Flexibility and ability to cope with several tasks simultaneously.
· Must be physically and mentally fit to respond to emergency situations.
· May require strenuous lifting, bending, climbing, and walking.
· Ability to meet a flexible work schedule including evenings and weekends and available on-call for emergencies.
Education and Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Event Planning, Education, Training, or related field.
- 2+ years of supervisory experience working in building management, event
management, construction management or an equivalent combination of education and
experience
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
