The anticipated Salary Range is $90,000 to $95,000 annually, benefits commensurate with those available to all district employees, with up to a three-year contract offered to the successful candidate.The position is a Massachusetts Teachers Retirement System (MTRS) eligible position or Berkshire County Retirement Board eligible position (depending on licensure status)The Mt. JOB TITLE: Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB)
REPORTS TO: Superintendent
POSITION STATEMENT:The Director of D,E,I, and B will work with the administration, faculty, staff, students, families, and our regional communities to build programs, initiatives, events, and practices that promote inclusion, equity, social justice, diversity, and belonging within the district and each of our three school communities.
Essential Job Responsibilities & Expectations
- Working with the administration, faculty, and staff to ensure that Mt. Greylock Regional School District lives its mission to create a community of learners working together in a safe and challenging learning environment that encourages restorative-based processes, respect, inclusive diversity, courtesy, integrity, and responsibility through high expectations and cooperation resulting in life-long learning and personal growth.
- Providing leadership and expertise to the district administrative team, and building partnerships with both of our member towns and other local and regional organizations that support our students and mission.
- Collaborating with curriculum director, principals, academic departments, grade levels, and individual teachers on curriculum development, extra-curricular development, and other learning activities that will enhance representation, build cultural competency, and increase access for all students into enhanced learning opportunities.
- Working with affinity groups and other student organizations and groups such as the Mt. Greylock Multicultural Student Union.
- Regularly measuring and analyzing student data, and assisting with district and school level goal setting relative to D, E, I, and B.
- Working to build bridges between and among the three district schools, particularly our two town-based elementary schools.
- Helping to develop, support, monitor, and evaluate appropriate responses to bias-based incidents and student/family/staff complaints that address bias and the impact of bias on underrepresented individuals and communities.
- Collaborating with principals and our human resource office to ensure effective recruitment, hiring, retention, and support for educators to increase diversity among our professional staff.
- Lived experience and demonstrated understanding of cultural values and norms of various communities particularly BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, immigrant, and disability communities, among others
- Proven ability to work effectively with young people
- A DESE teaching and/or administrative license
- MA degree or higher in education or a related field
- Minimum of five years of successful experience including any combination of classroom and/or administrative experience
- Deep understanding of cultural proficiency
- Effective analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Effective member of a team/teams
- Ability to interact with and build relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders
- A deep desire to work with all people to bring about necessary social change
- Reports to the Superintendent of Schools; 12-month (year-round) administrator position.
