When you join PPGNY as a Director of Capacity Building and Accessibility you will be responsible for leading efforts to build and adapt systems that exemplify the value that sexual and reproductive health (SRH) programming is for
all bodies, minds and identities, and that this work requires centering equity, access and justice.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Manage efforts to build more sexuality-receptive systems, by implementing community responsive and data-driven programs such as the PPGNY Organizational Capacity Building Model. Ensure programs are aligned with principles of equity, sexual and reproductive justice, disability justice and accessibility.
- Contribute to intra-departmental collaboration on curriculum development and staff training.
- Oversee the development and marketing of program materials, including manuals, videos and other learning tools.
- Serve as an Education and Training Department trainer for internal and external training design and facilitation efforts.
- Work with the AVP, and partner closely with Development and organizational leadership to seek and respond to new funding opportunities to sustain and build programs and partnerships for field-based collaborations related to sexual health education, reproductive justice, inclusive programming, and other relevant topics.
- Monitor programmatic performance and adherence to grant requirements including: ensuring deliverables and outcomes are met; monitoring related budgets; and ensuring accurate and compliant completion of grant/funder reports for internal and external purposes.
- Cultivate and maintain strong partnerships with local organizations to support community efforts, offer responsive programming and discern needs.
- Maintain an Advisory Council on Accessible Sex Education, members of which inform and offer critical feedback on programming designed to be more accessible to and affirming of people with disabilities. Council members include disability rights and justice activists, self-advocates and folks in disability-related fields,
- Hire, supervise, train, support, observe, and develop the Strategic Initiatives Manager to ensure program staff is well equipped to deliver high-quality programming.
- Provide training and technical assistance to Education and Training staff and broader professional networks in partnership with Professional Development team.
- Host internal learning forums and trainings on relevant research, reproductive justice trends and health education practices in partnership with the Chief Equity and Engagement Officer, Education and Training, Community Engagement, Project Street Beat, Clinical Services, Public Affairs and Research and Evaluation.
- Stay abreast of the latest in sexual and reproductive health, rights and justice, disability, and youth development.
You have:
- Bachelors’ Degree
- 5+ years of work experience in program development and management for education and/or sexual and reproductive health and justice. 2+ years of experience supervising and/or coaching preferred.
- Experience in program planning, curriculum development/instructional design (using Universal Design for Learning, Adult Learning Theory, Positive Youth Development and accessibility frameworks), and training and facilitation and demonstrated strong conceptual thinking skills in order to build cohesive and complimentary programs.
- Experience with communities impacted by adverse health outcomes, knowledge of systemic barriers to sexual reproductive health and wellbeing faced by marginalized communities especially women, LGBTQAI+ folks, poor/working class, people with disabilities, and communities of color.
- Direct experience working with people with disabilities, personally or professionally.
- Skilled communicator who can connect with young people, adult community members, administrators, funders, etc.

- $82,000

All positions at PPGNY require:
Proof of immunization or immunity to certain communicable diseases (including influenza during the flu season) and testing for tuberculosis. These certifications are required by the NYC DOHMH Health Code, NYSDOH and OSHA.
