Direct Support Professional (DSP)
Job Summary
The Irene Wortham Center is in search of Direct Support Professionals to fill open positions on 2nd and 3rd shifts in our ICF Residential Group Homes.
Position Summary
Assist in client programmatic instruction, activities, and training and to provide appropriate and timely direct care to clients.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist and supervise clients in areas of self-help and home-living skills.
- Responsible for providing direct care for approximately six clients, including, but not limited to, toileting, feeding, changing clothes, etc.
- Assist assigned clients with basic range of motion exercises.
- Maintain daily progress notes on assigned clients.
- Plan, develop and facilitate group activities in conjunction with other staff.
- Responsible for shared maintenance of home.
- Serve as positive role model for clients and staff.
- Administer medications under the direction of a licensed RN.
Education/Training
Graduation from an accredited High School or successful completion of GED program.
Maintain required certifications including CPR, First Aid, NCI, etc.
** Keep trainings up-to-date including Oxygen use, clients’ rights, PT, OT (Body Mechanics-
seizures), etc.
