Direct Care Worker Job at The Arc of Morehouse
The Arc of Morehouse in Bastrop, Louisiana, is one of northeast Louisiana's leading providers of services for persons with intellectual disabilities. The Arc of Morehouse is a non-profit agency offering assistance to adults with mental challenges, including home and community-based services, men's and women's residential housing, and Vocational job training.
We are seeking workers to supervise program participants ("clients") during their waking and sleeping hours. Responsibilities include ensuring these clients adhere to day-to-day schedules in a safe and therapeutic setting; providing transportation to their doctor's appointments, shopping and job sites; and documenting their daily activities.
Part-time positions are immediately available including day, evening, overnight and weekend shifts.
Minimum qualifications include:
- A high school diploma or equivalent (GED or HiSET),
- The ability to obtain a valid Louisiana Chauffeur’s "Class D" driver’s license (the license fee will be reimbursed to the employee),
- The capability to pass a driving records check, background search, and pre-employment drug screen,
- Possess good writing skills and have the ability to use a computer (PC).
- Have at least one year's experience working with the elderly or persons with disabilities (preferred).
