We are currently in search of a Dietary Aide/Cook to add to our team

Part-Time and Full-Time Availability:

  • Day Shift: 7am-1pm
  • Weekdays with rotating weekends

Job Duties Include:

The Cook is responsible for the evaluation, control, coordination, planning direction, monitoring and creation of menus and food in the community. The Cook must be able to communicate well, work with others well, and be capable of making large and diverse food items in a timely, efficient manner. The Cook is highly organized and has significant energy and enthusiasm. The Cook is able to make decisions quickly, and take into consideration the needs of residents, families and staff when doing so.The Cook is expected to perform the duties assigned and ensure the residents have food of the highest quality. Job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Cook well-prepared, nutritious, home-made meals in a timely manner based on the written menu
  • Ensure food, food preparation areas, equipment, and storage areas are maintained, cleaned and regularly serviced
  • Monitor portions for each resident
  • Monitor dietary guidelines for each resident
  • Ensure dishes are properly collected, cleaned, stored and used
  • Ensure all staff meets health department requirements to safely serve, store and utilize food in the community
  • Prepare weekly grocery shopping list
  • Inventory stock, and in some cases evaluate, shop and purchase supplies
  • Prepare daily substitution log, if needed
  • Comply with and ensure staff compliance with safe food handling
  • Address or report to the Administrator or Assistant Administrator any deficiencies that arise in the building
  • Read, review, understand and comply with all community Policy and Procedures, blood-borne pathogen rules, Emergency Preparedness and Disaster Plan, etc.
  • Participate in in-service training

Essential Qualifications:

  • 18 years or older
  • CPR and First Aid certification
  • Food handler permit (ServSafe Certificate preferred)
  • Background check (BCI) upon hire. No previous felony conviction or conviction for fraud of the federal government.
  • TB test
  • If needed a certification from a physician, nurse practitioner, or other health care professional to verify no communicable diseases, open skin lesions, or any other health problems that would interfere with job performance.
  • Experience working as a Dietary Aide/Cook

Skills and Abilities:

  • Oversee the nutrition program of the community, utilizing the policy and procedures of All Seasons Senior Living
  • Create a weekly menu and communicate that menu to people of varying mental acuity, cultural backgrounds, and physical ability
  • Know and understand the legal requirements necessary to operate a nutrition program
  • Be able to lift 25 pounds regularly
  • Make decisive decisions in an informed and professional manner
  • Engage in positive interpersonal relationships with coworkers, residents, resident families, and visitors to the community with employees, residents, residents' families, visitors, and coworkers in a professional, confidential manner
  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Use a computer, including the ability to engage in basic word processing, email and other communication, etc.
  • Work on a strict time frame based on state regulations, sometimes with with frustrated or angry people, and to handle stressful situations calmly
  • Engage in physically demanding work
  • Effectively work with a diversity of people, including people of different cultural, religious, or socioeconomic (among other) backgrounds
