Dexa Scan Technician Job at Rapid City Medical Center

The DEXA Technician is responsible for performing high quality bone density testing using techniques including dual energy X-ray absorptiometry, analyzing data, inputting results and reporting to the ordering provider. Experience working in a medical environment preferred.


Monday - Friday, no weekends or holidays!


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform high quality bone density testing using techniques including dual energy X-ray absorptiometry.
  • Properly position patient on DEXA table to ensure adequate results.
  • Complete history documentation from patient prior to examination
  • Review findings to determine appropriate tests and recommend alternative scan sites if needed.
  • Inputting results into computer system for requesting provider to read.
  • Effectively communicate to providers when issues such as patient inability to perform exam adequately due to limited range of motion or due to anatomical abnormality.
  • Communicate scan preparation to patient upon scheduling exam.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Assist in scheduling other radiology examinations such as, CT, Ultrasounds, Mammograms, and X-Rays.
  • Perform other clerical duties within department needs outside of DEXA role.
  • Experience working in a medical environment preferred. Willing to provide training and certification. Qualified candidates will have excellent customer service, time management and communication skills.

Bone Density Certification NOT required. RCMC will provide the training and certification through The International Society for Clinical Densitometry.
