Summary
Reporting to the UMSI Executive Director for Development and Alumni Relations, the Development Generalist will provide support across the UMSI Development & Alumni (DAR) team, specifically in the areas of stewardship, major gifts, alumni relations, board management, and communications. You will also be responsible for managing and implementing administrative processes such as gift processing and reporting. This role will work closely and collaboratively with all members of the UMSI DAR team in a supportive, inclusive, and dynamic environment.

Responsibilities*
- Supporting the UMSI Development & Alumni (DAR) team holistically with processes such as gift processing and reporting.
- Working closely with the Annual Giving and Stewardship Officer to thank, acknowledge, and report impact to our donors across various channels.
- Working closely with our Major Gifts team to coordinate asks/opportunities, track activities and outcomes, write prospect briefings, and generate reports to assist gift officers with prospect management activities.
- Assisting our Alumni Relations Officer with tracking alumni metrics, updating alumni records, generating reports, and supporting event planning and communications as needed.
- Supporting the Executive Director of Development in managing the UMSI advisory board, writing monthly board updates, preparing reports, and planning board meetings.
- Writing and editing materials such as one-sheets, proposals, presentations, newsletters, and website copy.
Required Qualifications*
- Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of certification, education and experience.
- 1-2 years experience in fundraising, marketing, public relations, communications, or a related field.
Work Schedule
Punctual, regular, and consistent attendance is required. May require working during non-business hours and on weekends. Hybrid work is OK, in accordance with UMSI Remote Work Policy and with supervisor approval but some on-site activities are required (e.g. for events, team meetings, board meetings, etc.). Remote work agreements are reviewed annually and are subject to change depending upon business needs.
Work Locations
Will require travel to multiple locations on & off campus.
