Job Summary / Purpose:

The Licensed Nursing Home Administrator is responsible for the management and day to day operations of LifeCare Greenbush Manor and Assisted Living & LifeCare Roseau Manor campuses. The Nursing Home Administrator is responsible to manage, control and operate the long term care settings in a manner that enables it to use its resources effectively and efficiently to attain or maintain the highest practicable physical, mental and psychosocial wellbeing of each resident.

The Nursing Home Administrator develops written policies for the management and operation of the nursing home and for the provision of resident care, for the quality of care rendered and for compliance with laws and regulations relating to the safety and sanitation of nursing homes, or which otherwise relate directly to the health, welfare, and care of residents.

The Nursing Home Administrator is responsible to ensure adequate and competent staff and maintenance of professional standards in the care of residents, operation of the nursing home, facilities, equipment, and supplies for care consistent with the needs of the residents. This includes maintenance, completion, submission of reports and records, the development and revision of policies, procedures and programs for operation, management and maintenance of the nursing home. The Administrator is a role model for ethical and interictal behavior.

Essential Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Supports, facilitates and maintains channels of communication with employees, encourages and is receptacle to employee suggestions and feedback, and provides opportunities for the growth and development of employees. Ensures accessibility of policies and procedures and an employee evaluation system is in place, ensuring department supervisors conduct employee performance evaluations annually. Supportive to relationship development, trust building, employee engagement and satisfaction, and inspiring a shared purpose
  • Assigns, supervises and evaluates the performance of direct reports, completes annual performance evaluations of department supervisors
  • Participates in the selection process for new employees in collaboration with the department supervisors, participates in the development of training and orientation processes, supports the orientation of new employees and volunteers, supports continuing in-service educational programs for all employees and volunteers. Hires competent and qualified department leaders as needed
  • Listens, investigates, responds and works toward resolution or mediating concerns or complaints from residents, tenants, families/resident representatives, or staff. Attempts to resolve issues or concerns in a manner that is reasonable and agreeable to all involved
  • Performs supervisory tasks related to the supervision of employees which may include, conducting investigations, coaching, teaching, guiding, training, growth and talent development, developing performance plans, disciplinary action, suspension, termination; consults with HR/Administration
  • Identifies and investigates systemic issues, intervening and preventing reoccurrence
  • Leads leadership team meetings for each Manor, Identify and set priorities for work initiatives and goal setting
  • Plans, organizes, and implements policies, procedures, programs and initiatives that support high quality service delivery and the ongoing performance improvement model, ensuring quality and resident satisfaction is achieved
  • Participates in team meetings, Interdisciplinary team meetings, stand up, Department Directors, Quality Assurance & performance improvement, Leads monthly Leadership team meetings
  • Participates in the screening and selection of potential residents
  • Attends resident or family council upon invitation
  • Investigates or supports the investigation by other staff during a Vulnerable Adult situation, may include completing all or parts of the investigation, reporting findings and completing reports to the MN required system
  • Listens to feedback, concerns or complaints with respect and professionalism, investigates as appropriate, Works with residents or families to resolve concerns or complaints in a manner which meets the needs of the resident and will satisfy the concern or demonstrate reason and compromise, mediates conflicts
  • Monitors Clinical Key Indicators, such as falls, infections, pressure ulcers, incidents, restraints, and takes appropriate action as needed based on findings,
  • Dementia Sensitivity: able to demonstrate and nurture care practices for persons with dementia that meet needs while promoting individualized person-center care and sense of well-being.
  • Participates in facility QAPI initiatives and meetings
  • Applies for MN PIPPS & QIIPs, manages programs related to the RFP
  • Monitors key statistical data, including staffing ratios, budgets, case, mix, quality indicators, takes appropriate actions based on findings
  • Listens to constructive feedback, resolving individual concerns while monitoring for trends and patterns
  • Participates in the development and management of the annual budget process by establishing needs and priorities, including department labor needs, supplies, equipment and capitol needs
  • In collaboration with the Director of Nursing, determines the numbers and levels of nursing staff to be employed based on operating budget and FTE management
  • Monitors controllable spending by monitoring monthly financial statements, identifying areas needing investigation, making changes to labor patterns or spending plans as needed
  • Demonstrates financial acumen when considering resources spent, uses good judgement
  • Demonstrates compassion, care, respect and professionalism in all encounters including residents, families, staff, vendors, physicians, guests, co-workers and supervisors. Treats all individuals with respect and dignity.
  • Participates on various LifeCare committees, including bio-medical Ethics committee, safety/emergency preparedness committee, Manor’s Leadership Team meetings, Department Directors, etc.
  • Promotes staff and resident safety, takes actions or reports to minimize safety hazards
  • Is available for unannounced health inspections completed by the Minnesota health department
  • Is available during non-business hours as well as in an emergency
