Mission East Dallas Family Health Center (MED) is a Federally Qualified Health Center providing primary care for medical and dental health services to the communities of far East Dallas, Mesquite and surrounding areas. MED is one of the few providers in the area that offers affordable care to the medically underserved in our community.

We are actively recruiting for 2 full-time Registered Dental Assistants for our new clinic in Sachse, TX! Bilingual in English & Spanish is required!

Our hours of operation are Monday-Thursday 8:00am-5:00pm and Friday 8:00am-12:00pm

Responsibilities and Duties

The Registered Dental Assistant is responsible for assisting the dentist in many aspects of direct patient care and performs other clinical and clerical functions independently while under direct supervision. The Dental Assistant is responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Customer Service; showing courtesy and respect for patients, co-workers and the public.
  • Chair-side Assisting; set up operatory for planned dental procedures and cleans dental unit for timely turnover, passes instruments safely, prepares dental medicament and impression materials, assists in routine and specialized dental procedures.
  • Dental Imaging; ensures that images are characterized by diagnostic quality, accurately oriented and exposed imaging requests are accomplished within desired time frame.
  • Infection Control and Equipment Sterilization; demonstrates proper infection control procedures in setting up and cleaning operatories, properly prepares instruments.
  • Helps maintains SDS log
  • Dental Laboratory Functions: make impressions, pours impressions, and prepares study models
  • Provides accurate and understandable instructions to patients, monitors patient’s condition during treatment.
  • Clerical Function; assists dentist in charting findings and treatment plans in patient records.
  • Other duties as assigned by Senior Dentist and Dental Clinic Manager sees fit
  • Assist Dental Hygienist as requested

Qualifications and Skills

  • Must be a Registered Dental Assistant with Texas State Board of Dental Examiners
  • Must be bilingual; Proficient in speaking both Spanish and English
  • Must have a current Basic Life Support certification
  • Must be a team player

The applicant must demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Ability to identify normal oral anatomy.
  • Advanced knowledge of instruments, materials, and standardized dental procedures used in all phases of restorative, surgical, endodontic and periodontal care and procedures.
  • Ability to monitor and perform basic interpretation of vital signs.
  • Ability to independently provide procedure-specific patient education and appropriate referral of patient concerns to treating dentist.
  • Ability to capture standard and special dental images of good diagnostic quality in traditional or digital formats.
  • Ability to perform maintenance on dental equipment used for routine and specialty dentistry.
  • Ability to enter and retrieve data utilizing electronic dental records. Experience working with eClinical Works is a plus.
  • Ability to perform dental assistant-appropriate laboratory procedures

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
