Founded in 1887, Alverno College is a four-year, Catholic liberal arts college for undergraduate women

The College is seeking applicants for a Full –Time/12-Month DEMNS Success Coach located in Mesa, AZ.

Primary Function: Provide academic and personal support to DEMSN students, and support to the
program’s administration. Collaborate with Program Director in the development and
implementation of the program.

Pr.i* n cipal Responsibilities
*

1. Serves as Academic Coach to students in the DEMSN program:
a. Facilitates academic success through the use of various teaching and learning frameworks.
b. Collaborates with instructors to identify at-risk students.
c. Collaborates with the participant to complete and regularly review an academic and life
success plan.
d. Maintains documentation of student interactions for interventions and data analysis
purposes, and provides reports as requested.
2. Facilitates connections to essential campus services:
a. Communicates available student support resources.
b. Acts as liaison with other campus departments (i.e. Registrar, Instructional Services).
3. Collaborates with Faculty and Nursing Administration to achieve program outcomes:
a. Meets with Program Director on a designated basis regarding program activity and
individual student concerns.
b. Meets with the DEMSN team to review student progress, finalize interventions and timeline,
review results of interventions, and provide guidance and feedback.
4. Serves on college committees that influence policy related to retention and graduation of DEMSN
students.
5. Performs other tasks as necessary to support the mission of the college.

Qualifications

1. Baccalaureate degree in nursing required, master’s preferred.
2. Experience with teaching/coaching/precepting nursing students.
3. Knowledge of teaching reading and study strategies preferred.
4. Knowledge of the special needs of accelerated program students is a plus.
5. Must have the ability to develop and articulate measurable program objectives and facilitate
implementation.
6. Bilingual/Spanish skills are a plus.
7. Requires a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
8. Ability to plan and prioritize work requirements and demonstrate independent decision-making
capabilities.
9. Requires the ability to communicate and respond to both internal and external customers
professionally and in a timely manner. Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective
working relationships with staff, faculty, students, and the general public.
10. Must have the ability to read, interpret, write and accurately complete documents such as forms
and general correspondence.
11. Requires the ability to work with and maintain confidential information.
12. Must have the ability to work some weekend and evening hours as needed.
13. Must be able to freely move throughout campus. The employee is frequently required to sit. Must
have the ability to bend and lift as associated with normal filing and storage procedures. Requires
the ability to speak and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and
color vision.
