We have an immediate need for a 1st shift straight truck driver. Current shift hours are 6:00am-4:30pm Monday-Thursday & 6:00am-2:30pm on Friday but some days it could be a little earlier just depending on if a job site requires someone to make a delivery as a certain time. Qualified candidates MUST have previous on-the-job verificable experience driving a straight truck. In addition you must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record (we will run a check), clean criminal history and be able to pass pre-employment & random drug screening. Job Summary:

Deliver fabricated steel safely to job site driving an 18 wheel straight truck, or pick up truck. No overnights required.

Essential Job Functions and Qualifications

1. Maintain good attendance, reliability and attitude.

2. Must have clean driving record.

3. Must meet DOT physical and mental requirements.

4. Must be able to back trailer into tight spots.

5. Must have high degree of attention and considerable dexterity in the control of tractor trailer and in preventing damage to materials and equipment.

6. Must be able to load using forklift.

7. Examine load for safety and chain the load down. Use straps only on sensitive loads such as powder coated material, ect. May require climbing on top of load to secure chains.

8. Safely deliver steel to job site driving an 18 wheel straight truck, or pick up truck.

9. Report any hazards / accidents immediately to your supervisor.

10. After arriving at job site, unchain and wait for load to be unloaded.

11. Call supervisor and report any delays.

12. Call supervisor when unloaded.

13. Keep truck fueled and washed weekly. Inspect truck and trailer for safety issues (lights, tires, etc.).

14. Complete log books for DOT purposes.

15. Complete trip reports to record highways and mileage.

16. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs over shoulder height occasionally.

17. Must be able to speak and understand enough English to accurately follow basic instructions.

18. Must accurately and properly clock in and out on all different jobs and all shop orders worked on.

19. Work required hours to help meet delivery schedule and satisfy customer needs..

20. When at the shop, engage in assisting other supervisors with other tasks, (ie) grinding, cleaning, loading trucks, ect. , performing any other duties or tasks as required by management.
