Position Overview:
The DC Truck Gate Attendant has thorough knowledge of Ascena Asset Protection, security and life safety procedures. Performs duties as a truck gate attendant. Works closely with Receiving & Shipping office while maintaining daily communications with DC Asset Protection and Transportation (as needed) and acts as a deterrent to theft. Responds to and proactively addresses life safety, security, and operational issues. Daily interaction, with AP and DC personnel. Cross trained with Asset Protection to help support the facility depending on business needs. Seeks advice and direction from AP Management.
Duties
- Logs all inbound / outbound trailers and containers upon entry/exit of the trailer yard.
- Enters all trailers and containers into and yard management system (YMS) and verifies inbound trailers against the appointment scheduler.
- Verifies driver’s ID and credentials prior to granting access onto the trailer yard.
- Communicates with the Receiving department and yard drivers regularly. Assists in directing trailers to a dock door location or yard location.
- Records trailer and container numbers and verifies seal number of all inbound and outbound traffic.
- Inspects all trailers and containers for sings of damage or tampering and documents any anomalies.
- Performs C-TPAT 7-point inspections on international outbound trailers.
- Secure truck gate during non-operational hours.
- Monitors CCTV system, focusing on outside/external activity.
- Cross Trains with Asset Protection specialist on specialist duties.
- Gains understanding of access control and alarm response.
- Performs support for Asset Protection Management as needed.
- Performs other administrative duties as needed by AP Management.
- Maintains truck gate operations.
Work Experience and education requirements
- Minimum of 6 months experience in Asset Protection or security preferred.
- Previous truck gate experience and/or experience with a yard management system a plus.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Self-motivated; must be able to work with little or no supervision with good communication and organizational skills.
- Must be flexible to work any hours required.
- First Aid, CPR, AED certification preferred (certification will be required during employment).
- Possess intermediate computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Well-rounded knowledge of security policies and procedures. Maintain constant awareness of surroundings.
