MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Must have Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) Certification OR Sleep Disorder Specialty (SDS) Certification.

2. WV Respiratory License.

3. Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.

1. Performs polysomnography on outpatients and inpatients according to established policies and procedures without direct supervision.

2. Performs basic and advanced therapeutic procedures for pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients at the Sleep Evaluation Center and in the hospital (including critical care areas) in accordance with established policies and procedures.

3. Ensures proper document flow and storage according to established departmental guidelines.

4. Assures the completion of all patient testing procedures and supporting documentation within established time frames.

5. Submits accurate and timely patient charges.

6. Must be able to score sleep studies within established time and quality parameters and according to practice guidelines.

7. Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of the equipment, procedure rooms, and work areas of the Sleep Evaluation Center.

8. Participates in educational and in-service opportunities continuously working towards increasing the professional level of patient care rendered and acquiring a better understanding of the services and functions of the Sleep Evaluation Center.

9. Seeks CEU opportunities and maintains CEUs per requirements of registry and licensure.

10. Assists in providing in-services regarding the principles of sleep procedures and equipment operation to members of the professional medical community and community at large.

11. Demonstrates regard for the dignity, respect, and safety, of all patients, family members, visitors, and hospital personnel as defined in the philosophy of the organization. Adheres to WVUH Standards of Behavior. Follows all WVUH policies and procedures. Utilizes AIDET.

12. Utilizes respiratory background for patient care as appropriate.

Additional Job Description:

Daytime Sleep Technologist will assist in the overall operations of our Sleep Evaluation Center to include, but not limited to, assisting the physicians during the daytime Sleep Clinic, daytime sleep testing, PAP mask fittings & equipment troubleshooting, sleep study scoring, DME & prescriptions, and rotations to overnight sleep testing to cover scheduled night shift PTO .

Flexibility to help cover the Fairmont Sleep Evaluation Center during times of need.
