The Ohio Department of Health supports a hybrid teleworking model. This position may work a hybrid schedule at the discretion of the manager or supervisor, which will require occasional attendance in the office for training, meetings and other operational needs. Employees must reside within a reasonable distance to their assigned headquarters for compliance with workplace reporting requirements.

What You'll Do:

Our HIV/STI/HEP team has TWO (2) FT, PERMANENT OPPORTUNITIES for Data Analytics Specialists! In this position, you'll help collect, monitor and improve data for the Ryan White Part B and Ohio HIV Drug Assistance programs.

Primary Duties:

  • Extract, analyze, reconcile, and integrate data from multiple sources & systems (e.g., Ryan White Application Database, CAREWare):
    • utilize analytics techniques (e.g. regression, correlation, classification, data mining, data visualization) to discover/confirm associations, predictive models, and algorithms
    • apply statistical analysis & visualization techniques to identify data trends and relationships
    • collaborate with HIV Care subject matter experts in application of data to program priorities, resources & risks

Additional Duties:

  • Provide insight, recommendations, and actionable solutions that support program goals
  • Operationalize analytics processes (establish metrics/reporting, identify and document best practices, train others in analytics techniques, etc.)

Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Completion of graduate core program in data analytics, applied mathematics, statistics, industrial/systems engineering, or related field; AND
  • 12 mos. exp. in data analytics, statistical analysis, or research methods

OR

  • Completion of undergraduate core program in data analytics, applied mathematics, statistics, industrial/systems engineering, or related field; AND
  • 24 mos. exp. in data analytics, statistical analysis, or research methods

OR

  • Completion of associate core program in data analytics, applied mathematics, statistics, industrial/systems engineering, or related field; AND
  • 30 mos. exp. in data analytics, statistical analysis, or research methods

OR

  • 48 mos. exp. in data analytics or statistical analysis

OR

  • equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above

Additional Qualifications:

Applications of those who meet the minimum qualifications will be further evaluated against the following criteria:

  • Experience with health-related data collection, management, and analysis
  • Experience in planning or organizing studies/projects to investigate health issues
  • Undergraduate or advanced degree in public health, statistics, computer science or information systems
  • Experience interpreting and conducting analysis of health-related data
  • Experience in statistical software (e.g., SAS, SQL, R, or SPSS)
  • Experience in data visualizations (e.g. Figures, Tables)

Unless required by legislation, the selected candidate will begin at Pay Grade 33, Step 1 of the OCSEA union, Pay Range Schedule ($29.66 per hour), with an opportunity for pay increase after six months ($31.11) of satisfactory performance and then a yearly raise thereafter.
