About the role:
We are expanding our efforts into complementary data technologies for decision support in areas of ingesting and processing large data sets including data commonly referred to as semi-structured or unstructured data. Our interests are in enabling data science and search-based applications on large and low latent data sets in both a batch and streaming context for processing. To that end, this role will engage with team counterparts in exploring and deploying technologies for creating data sets using a combination of batch and streaming transformation processes. These data sets support both off-line and in-line machine learning training and model execution. Other data sets support search engine-based analytics. Exploration and deployment of technologies activities include identifying opportunities that impact business strategy, collaborating on the selection of data solutions software, and contributing to the identification of hardware requirements based on business requirements. Responsibility also includes coding, testing, and documentation of new or modified scalable analytic data systems including automation for deployment and monitoring. This role participates along with team counterparts to develop solutions in an end-to-end framework on a group of core data technologies. Other aspects of the role include developing standards and processes for data engineering projects and cloud initiatives.

The Data Enablement Analyst will partner with business and technical stakeholders to increase data literacy, provide guidance on information-related issues, and ensure the organization has the appropriate governance in place related to the management and usage of OSI business information. This role is expected to be a hands-on practitioner. It is responsible for executing on Data Governance initiatives and enhance the recognized value of Data Governance within the organization.
Responsibilities:
JOB DUTIES
  • Promote Data Enablement practices across the organization
  • Collaborate with business and technical data citizens to maintain an active understanding of OSI information assets and related processes and activities
  • Participate in OSI policy and standard development and review
  • Gather, document and publish Data Governance metrics
  • Manage and publish Data Enablement communications
  • Assist in the development and delivery of Data Enablement education for the OSI enterprise
  • Serves as the steward of the metadata repository by assisting in the gathering and articulation of metadata, planning testing of metadata in systems, and training staff to properly create and manage metadata
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Conform with all company policies and procedures

This role will participate in the implementation of Data Governance capabilities through practiced application.
This role will interact with product-oriented execution teams on a regular basis and will need to clearly communicate and demonstrate the value of Data Governance.

Practical Application
  • Execute Data Governance initiatives to address information-related pain points.
  • Collaborate with business and technical data citizens to maintain an active understanding of OSI information assets and related processes and activities.
  • Perform existing data governance activities and recommend enhancements to align with GMF policies and standards.
  • Execute the administration of key Data Governance functions including Stewardship, Data Quality, Data & Report Certification, and Data Literacy.
  • Serves as a steward of the OSI metadata repository by assisting in the gathering and articulation of metadata, testing of metadata in systems, and training staff to properly create and manage metadata in accordance with OSI’s Stewardship Framework.
Qualifications:
Knowledge

Education
  • High School Diploma required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent work experience required (Ideally in Data Governance, Library Science, Computer Science, or other quantitative/qualitative Business discipline.)
Experience
  • 1-3 years of experience in a technical or analytical role
  • 1 - 3 years of experience in a formal Data Governance role
  • Working knowledge of various data storage services, including relational databases, content management repositories, shared file systems, etc.
  • Working knowledge of application and data modeling languages and tools
  • Working knowledge of various information repository types, including metadata, CMDB, business glossary, etc.

  • Flexible schedule with possibility of working long hours including weekends/holidays, occasional overtime or split shifts may be required
  • Limited travel may be required to support business needs

At GM Financial, we strive for equity in all aspects of our business, including pay equity. This is the GM Financial pay range for this role and job level. The exact salary and compensation will vary based on factors like knowledge, skills, experience and education.
Compensation: $65,600 - $121,300 base + bonus
