United Way of Western CT is seeking a candidate to fill the position of Danbury Child Care Network Educational Coach. This is a part-time, 24-hour weekly position based in our Danbury, CT office, with flexibility for the hybrid remote.

The Educational Coach will provide individualized coaching assistance to Home Family Child Care providers seeking to improve the quality of their programs. This may include goal setting, curriculum planning, modeling, co-teaching, observation, problem-solving, sharing resources, reflecting on practice, connecting to the broader Family Child Care Network and other support as needed.

This position reports to the Early Child Care Initiative Director at United Way of Western Connecticut. Must be a highly motivated professional and highly organized with experience in early childhood education and care—exceptional references.


Responsibilities

· Provide individualized coaching assistance to Home Family Child Care providers seeking to improve the quality of their programs. This may include goal setting, curriculum planning, modeling, co-teaching, observation, problem-solving, sharing resources, reflecting on practice, connecting to the broader Family Child Care Network and other support as needed

· Use creative strategies to recruit Family Child Care providers to participate in our network Programming

· Provide support (NAEYC Accreditation overview, CDA Child Development Accreditation overview, and professional)

· Travel to program sites regularly.

· Conduct assessments to ensure quality curriculum development and implementation

· Respond to educators’ inquiries or requests in a timely manner

· Develop and conduct professional development and learning opportunities

· Ensure a continuum of support for those entering the child care field in Danbury and New Milford areas, by collaborating closely with all team members

· Facilitate monthly support meetings to engage individualized programs and technical assistance

· Mentor educators in the process for CDA and the National Association of Family Child Care (NAFCC) accreditation


Job Expectations

  • Make high-quality early care and education available to all children
  • Experienced in mentoring adults, building strong relationships, and an understanding of adult learning
  • Must be fluent and culturally competent in both Spanish and English
  • Improve the quality of childcare programs for a group of 13-15 childcare providers
  • Value an asset-based approach and growth mindset to change and understand that the process requires patience, sensitivity, flexibility, respect, and commitment; believe in providers’ capacity for continuous learning

Required Experience and Requirements

· · Bachelor’s Degree or higher early childhood education or a related field required,

  • Experience as a PD facilitator, Coach, College Instructor, Consultant, and/or Mentor
  • Training or coursework specific to Adult Learning Theory, have experience mentoring adults, building strong relationships, and an understanding of adult learning.
  • Have experience in early education, particularly with children from birth to 5 years of age
  • Excellent observational and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Capable of utilizing technology in various forms to communicate, support programs, and collaborate with colleagues and ability to work independently
  • Bi-lingual (English and Spanish) strongly required
  • Candidates must understand the challenges and barriers faced by marginalized communities, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, class, ability, immigration status, gender, and their intersections, and have experience engaging with and working alongside communities of color
  • Availability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
