General Purpose of Job:
Supervises the daily functions and work activities within the EVS department to ensure quality service to the members, guest/visitors, and staff. Ensures that quality and performance standards are maintained (i.e., providing a safe and clean environment) in all areas of MAC facility. Oversees development and implementation of projects within the department.
Essential Duties:
This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Caregivers may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.
- Scheduling and maintaining schedules for Locker Room and EVS caregivers.
- Bi-Weekly Walks with contracted cleaning area manager/supervisor.
- Maintain Supplies and storage for EVS and locker rooms.
- Work with vendors on pricing and supplies.
- Monitors flow and quality of work to assure timely completion of workload and adherence to all standards and regulations. Supervise, train, onboard, mentor, and motivate caregivers to achieve maximum performance, safety procedures, emergency protocols, teamwork, and continuous quality improvement.
- Assure that quantity and quality of work meets all standards.
- Create an atmosphere that supports and encourages high performance, teamwork, and continued improvement.
- Assist in hiring, performance appraisals, and corrective action of caregivers as necessary.
- Aid in performing some Caregivers duties, as occasion may be required.
- On a daily basis, makes walking rounds in all work areas to maintain contact with customers and Caregivers and promote teamwork within the department.
- Maintain hospitality, custodial and laundry services, and overall support for all MAC locker room duties.
- Support operations by appropriately representing the Sparrow Michigan Athletic Club in all forums by demonstrating commitment to the MAC philosophy, mission, goals, policies, and procedures.
- Assist in special events, overnights and other activities as assigned.
- Demonstrate knowledge of company policies while maintaining respect between staff and MAC members.
- Bi-Weekly Walks with EVS area manager.
- Daily Walks of Spec Cleaning areas.
Job Requirements
General Requirements
- CPR certification
Work Experience
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a leadership position. • Minimum of one (1) year of experience with linen, laundry or environmental services work
Education
- High school diploma, GED or successful completion of 12 grades
Specialized Knowledge and Skills
Required: • Exposure to cleaning chemicals. Potential to exposure to cleaning and other hazardous material. • A pre-employment physical demands test must be successfully passed through Sparrow’s Employee Health Department • Computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office program suite. • Demonstrated ability to think critically, independently, and creatively to develop strategies and solutions. • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and environment. • Ability to develop and motivate staff. • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality. • Excellent organizational, planning, effective time management, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. • Excellent listening, comprehension, communications (verbal and written) problem solving, and customer service skills. • Ability to perform comfortably in a fast-paced work environment. • Ability to successfully execute many complex tasks simultaneously. • Ability to work as a team member, as well as independently. Preferred: • Previous healthcare experience in environmental services • Associates degree in business or relevant field • Knowledge of Public Health, Waste Management, and OSHA regulations
