With five paper converting machine production lines – three for paper towels and bath tissue, one for napkins and one for facial tissue – the Hagerstown Tissue Converting Facility will soon be a 24/7 operation and is seeking talent to fill the position of Cost Accountant and Purchasing Specialist.
The Cost Accountant and Purchasing Specialist insures all accounting and financial information is reported and analyzed in a timely and accurate manner, and plays a vital role in costing analysis by providing financial oversight and guidance for the Hagerstown Tissue Converting Facility. This position reports directly to the Regional Controller.
The position
You will assume the following responsibilities:

• Prepare, review and analyze balance sheet account reconciliations
• Prepare annual budgets and periodic forecasts
• Handle monthly, quarterly and annual closings, account reconciliations and variance analysis
• Understand journal entries, accounting flows and operational back-office processes
• Identify and communicate potential risk in accounts and resolve reconciling items in a timely fashion
• Research, track and restore accounting or documentation problems and discrepancies
• Document operational processes and associated accounting flows
• Identify opportunities for process and internal control enhancements
• Provide expert information on costs and operations to senior managers and the Sales team for strategic and tactical decisions affecting operations and profitability
• Prepare reports and summaries on areas of activity for submission to management
• Prepare standard monthly and specialized reporting with minimal supervision
• Observe internal policies, procedures and standards as well as applicable laws
• Support procurement functions

The ideal profile

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration
• Five years of cost accounting, auditing and/or financial experience
• Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures
• CPA or CMA designation preferred but not required
• Experience in a manufacturing environment would be an asset
• Experience with SAP would be an asset
• Advanced MS Excel skills
• Ability to motivate and influence others so as to promote and improve policies and programs and contribute to employee engagement
• Ability to work as a member of a team and to communicate with all levels of the organization
• Excellent analytical skills and the ability to make the right decisions quickly, even when you have incomplete information or are working under pressure
• Ability to adapt quickly to change and to innovate
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and to meet deadlines, while delivering quality results
