Emory University's Division of Campus Life is seeking a Coordinator of Athletic Equipment and Facility Operations to join their team.


JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Reporting to the Assistant Director of Facilities & Events, assists in leading facility operations for the Woodruff Physical Education Center (WPEC), and serves as the Athletics Equipment Manager.
  • Responsibilities include a wide variety of administrative and supervisory duties mainly including, but not limited to, equipment room management, evening facility supervision, and student staff management. Recruits hires, trains, supervises, evaluates, and develops one Graduate Assistant to assist with intercollegiate laundry and equipment management, locker room management, and overall student staff supervision.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, supervises, evaluates, and develops approximately sixty student employees annually.
  • Conducts semester training and kick off meetings, and bi-weekly staff training meetings with all student staff employees.
  • Presents an atmosphere of out-of-classroom learning for student employees and participants. Focuses on the development of student leadership, customer service, decision making, and communication.
  • Maintains files documenting training, timekeeping, and certifications as required. Maintains student staff uniforms and name tags.
  • Supervises all equipment services for Athletics and Recreation including the receiving, cleaning, repair, maintenance, and inventory of all intercollegiate and recreation equipment.
  • Purchases recreation equipment for WPEC general use.
  • Maintains accurate inventory of all equipment.
  • Oversees the issuance, collection, and storage of all equipment.
  • Oversees the student-athlete uniform laundry and loop system.
  • Manages locker issue program for Play 4 Life swimming classes curriculum classes; manages day use lockers. Communicates and works closely with head coaches, assistant coaches, and events staff regarding schedules, uniform care, and team needs.
  • Manages day-to-day operations of the equipment room including staffing, athlete laundry, recreational laundry/towels, and day locker key rental management.
  • Maintains washers and dryers and orders chemicals as needed including sport specific chemicals.
  • Performs periodic checks on machines to maintain good working order.
  • Organizes and manages lost and found systems.
  • Liaises with other campus entities in regards to student conduct, marketing, events, etc.
  • Serves as a professional staff supervising all evening activities to ensure compliance with facility and university policies and procedures.
  • Maintains student staff records to ensure staff has completed CPR/AED certification for WPEC.
  • Instructs CPR/AED/First Aid courses when needed to support staff certifications.
  • Reports facility issues to Associate Director of Athletic Facilities.
  • Maintains the budget for all recreational sports purchases for the equipment rooms.
  • Assists in overseeing student staff budget for all student employees in Athletics and Recreation.
  • Manages timekeeping and payroll for sixty student employees each pay period.
  • Recruits and tracks Federal Work Study Awards students. Reports and manages WPEC equipment room income. Assists with basic logistics during summer camp programming.
  • Serves on NCAA host management team as needed.
  • Attends departmental and divisional meetings as necessary.
  • Serves in an on-call function to support operations at the facilities.
  • Serves as a department ranking staff member on duty for the recreation and athletic facilities and operations; which includes, but is not limited to, serving as a first responder for emergency situations and providing emergency care, providing customer service, resolving conflicts, and making decision and judgments regarding program and facility usage.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree in Sport Management, Physical Education, Recreation/Leisure Administration, Higher Education, or related field.
  • One year of related experience in recreational sports or varsity athletics equipment room operations with major emphasis in student staff development.
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications required.
