Minimum of 2 years’ experience supervising dietary operations or 3 years assisting in the management of dietary operations within a healthcare environment. Must be organized, timely, and have an agreeable personality. Candidate must possess Servsafe Food Handler’s Certification. Must be age 25+ with good driving record and be approved to drive our vehicle. Peace River Center is a Drug Free workplace and requires an approved DCF Level 2 Background Clearance.

JOB STATUS: Full-Time FLSA: Non Exempt

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for the coordination of food service related issues and the supervision and management of the dietary services unit.

Essential Duties/Requirements/Activities:

  • Coordinate and supervise dietary services through the proper management of personnel and physical resources as well as ensure contract compliance with external customers.
  • Serve as a liaison between management and vendors, external authorities, and customers for related services and contract operations.
  • Facilitate dietary operations through the appropriate coaching, training, and assessment of staff.
  • Work as an integral part of the dietary services team to ensure the satisfactory provision of nutritional services and when necessary advise and assist in the correction of any noted area of deficiency.
  • Monitor and document monitoring activities of dietary operations to ensure compliance with legal, regulatory and accreditation requirements.
  • Utilize food banks and/or other charitable sources to assist in the reduction of operations expenditures when available.
  • Perform front line supervisor duties and act as a mentor and coach to assist in the personal growth and development of unit staff.
  • Oversee the inventory control, usage, and ordering of supplies and equipment needed to maintain dietary operations, including emergency backup supplies.
  • Must be proficient in written and verbal communication skills in order to interact professionally with staff and/or persons from other agencies and/or companies.
  • Must be able to bend, climb, sit and/or stand for prolonged periods and lift at least 50 lbs. in order to carry out the functions associated with this position.
  • Must be able to establish and maintain a daily routine so as to appropriately supervise and coordinate dietary services.
  • Must be able to maintain the confidentiality of work related materials and information.
  • Must comply with other organizational policies and procedures except those for which the employee gives notice of the need for reasonable accommodation and for which the organization can make such reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be able to maintain conduct and behavior consistent with the organizations core values.

Qualifications:

Education:

Candidate must possess a HS Diploma/GED. An AS degree is preferred

Experience:

Candidate should have a minimum of 2 years' experience supervising dietary operations or 3 years assisting in the management of dietary operations within a healthcare environment.

Certifications:

Candidate must possess Servsafe Food Handler's Certification. Other similar certifications by recognized certifying agencies may be considered.

Training:

Candidate must complete all necessary training in order to obtain and maintain required certification status as well as complete all agency assigned trainings.

Knowledge and Skills:

Ability to be flexible and manage time, resources, staff, and customer services in a professional manner.

Demonstrate understanding and ability to work with clients with mental health disorders or special needs.

Transportation:

Must have valid Florida driver's license with a clean driving record

Must be at least 25+ years of age

Approved to drive pending the completion of their required driver's training

Machines, Tool and Equipment Used:

Computer, telephone, fax, copier, food preparation equipment.

Supervisory Relationship(s)

Supervises dietary aides.

Work Environment:

The work environment is fast-paced and consists of exposure to physical conditions typical of a normal office environment. The populations cared for will include patients who are confused, delusional, irrational, agitated, or uncooperative. Most of the job is performed while sitting, although the work may require occasional standing or walking and/or the lifting and carrying of small objects. A small amount of travel may be required for meetings etc. to another PRC location.
