Position Summary:
The Short Order Cook reports directly to the Facility Manager and is responsible for the preparation of and cooking to order, a variety of foods in small eatery. A successful candidate will have good time management skills and the ability to multitask.
Essential Job Functions:
- Ensures food preparation areas are clean and sanitized in compliance with health codes
- Performs simple food preparation tasks, such as slicing meats and vegetables
- Prepares food to customer specifications
- Grills, cooks, fries a variety of foods
- Plans and manages work orders to ensure all items in order are finished and served at the same time
- Completes orders, plates food and serves to customers
- Orders and stocks kitchen and food supplies
- Rotates food and stamps the time and date on the food in the coolers
- Performs daily station cleaning while maintaining safe work environment
- Maintains neat appearance and good personal hygiene in compliance with company image standards
- Takes reasonable precautions and measures to protect company assets
- Preserves the safety of self, fellow employees and all others in the work location
- Interacts and communicates effectively and productively with others
- Provides regular and predictable attendance

Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma, or equivalent
- Experience with food preparation and sanitation techniques
- Current TAMS card
- Current Food Handlers card
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Knowledge of basic math
- Ability to communicate clearly, verbally and written with all levels of the organization
- Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, maintain an attention to accuracy and detail
- Ability to multi-task and work quickly and efficiently
- Ability to work with a team of diverse backgrounds
- Ability to work evening shift(s)
Education:
- High school diploma, or equivalent
Required Training & Certificates:
- Current TAMS card
- Current Food Handlers card
- Attends training sessions, seminars and appropriate educational classes required by department.
- Computer skills commensurate with program and job applications.

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate, but may be loud on occasion. Work is usually done in a retail/restaurant setting. Work may require weekend and/or evening work. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, vehicles and equipment.
